Description of the walk

Park at the Cornis car park at Croix de Fer.

(S/E) Head straight down into the forest with the road on your left. Follow a few hairpin bends and you will reach a fork.

(1) Leave the path you have been following, which you will take on the way back, and take the path on the left, continuing further into the forest.

(2) Turn right at the intersection to continue downhill towards the Pont de la Brousse bridge. Once you reach the Drobie river, turn left to reach the bridge , where you can take a dip in summer or admire the ice in winter.

(3) Retrace your steps to rejoin the route on the left. Follow the yellow PR® markings and the GPX trail carefully, as you will be passing through stone walls and their entrances are not always clearly visible, even though they are marked. Join the Chemin de Charrus before arriving at the hamlet of La Fabrie.

(4) Turn right at the hairpin bend, negotiate a left-hand bend and then pass the houses of Chambary.

(5) Turn right at the last two houses: the path is more open and offers beautiful views of the valleys. You will come out onto a track with an unobstructed view just before a monument.

(6) Continue southwards.

(7) The path is relatively flat, allowing you to enjoy the open view and also the black wooden statues: you have to look up to see them! Return to the fork at the start.

(1) Stay on the track and return to the car park (S/E).

Notes

The stages and junctions are marked. Pay attention to the signs and GR® and PR® markings. All in all, this is a fairly easy hike in terms of signage.

(4) The original trail branches off to the left about a hundred metres further on. It should be avoided if the ground is frozen to prevent falls, and it is therefore advisable to stay on the track (choice of route).

Always be cautious and plan ahead when you're outdoors. Visorando and the author of this route cannot be held responsible for any accidents occurring on this route.
