Cavarrot and Monteil mills from Boussac

The starting point is in the car park of Boussac Church, on the side of the D41 and at the bottom of the Gorges du Célé, 10 km from the centre of Figeac.

(S/E) Turn left onto the D41 for 50 m, then turn right uphill onto the Route des Mandens, following the red and white markings of the GR®°°®° 651.

(1) Carry on straight ahead, following the markings, until you reach the D41 at the 176m mark. Walk along the road behind the crash barrier to the Moulin de Cavarrot.

(2) Leave the GR® and the D41 and turn right onto the small path which climbs steeply in hairpin bends alongside a dry stream. Continue to the road at Pech d’Ubris, near a beautiful stone cross.

(3) Follow the small road to the right, leaving the road leading to Combarel on your right. At a metal telephone pole with a yellow arrow, head onto a small path flanked by two low stone walls. At the junction, turn right until you reach a road at La Coste.

(4) Follow the road to the left until you reach the hamlet of Ferriol. When you reach a house on your left, leave the road via a small path that descends steeply to the right and leads to the D48.

(5) Cross the main road with care and take the small path that descends opposite for 300 m, then climbs back up towards the Rodez-Figeac railway line. Turn right onto the path that runs alongside the railway line, then veers away from it by turning right and descends to a crossroads.

(6) Turn left onto the path marked in yellow, which you should follow until the end of the walk. This climbs steeply to reach the road after about 700 m.

(7) Turn right onto the small road leading to Monteil. Pass through the hamlet and continue down the path, which becomes a road and passes through Cantarel. Navigate the sharp left-hand bend, then turn right to reach the D41 at the bottom of the valley.

(8) Cross this main road with care and take the track which, after approaching the Célé, veers to the right to run alongside it and joins the D48 at a place called La Mouline.

(9) Turn right onto the D48 and cross the Laval stream to reach the D41. Turn right onto it to return to the starting point at Boussac church (S/E).

There is a water point next to the church (S/E).
You can take shelter under the railway viaduct between (5) and (6).

During high water on the Célé or periods of heavy rain, the section of the route between (8) and (9) may be flooded. In this case, at the Cantarel bend, take the small path on the right which allows for a quick return. It crosses the Ruisseau de Lavayssière ford via a small bridge to join the D48. Turn left to join the D41 at the football ground. Then turn right onto the D41 to return to your starting point.
