Montriond walks
Walk along the Dranse river from Montriond
Follow the river and enjoy a refreshing break during a walk along the banks of the Dranse. The Promenade des Dérèches is a flat, low-mountain trail alongside the river. It is not demanding and is ideal for a short morning jog or simply to relax. All around you, the background music is composed of two sounds: the trickling of the river and the singing of birds. The shelter of the trees and the proximity to the Dranse make for a pleasant walk without getting too hot.
Walk in Les Guéritolles
An easy hike in the hills above Montriond will take you along a forest path to the hamlet of Les Guéritolles, where you can enjoy a superb panoramic view of the villages of Montriond, Morzine and Essert-Romand. Along the way, you will see traditional granaries and alpine chalets while enjoying a magnificent view of the surrounding villages and peaks.
Lac de Montriond to Roc de Taveneuse, views to Lac de Taveneuse & Abondance
A there and back hike up to Roc de Taveneuse with views across to Abondance. This hike offers a challenging initial forest climb (hard relentless cardio but no rock climbs or cables/supports) but then opens up to mountain pastures with full panoramic shot of Mont Blanc (on a clear day). A further climb brings you to Roc de Tavaneuse with 360 views.
Montriond Lake and Ardent Waterfall
A lovely walk starting from the car park downstream from Lake Montriond. Follow the path along the lake shore and through the forest to reach the superb Ardent waterfall. The surroundings are magnificent. As the site is very popular, it is best to start the walk early in the day.
Crêtes de Super-Morzine from Morzine
From Morzine, take the ski lifts to quickly gain altitude and enjoy the fresh air. The trail takes you along the ridges, between flower-filled mountain pastures and spectacular views of Avoriaz, Lake Montriond and the surrounding mountains. Accessible and varied, this walk offers impressive viewpoints, flower-filled passages and the chance to stop for a bite to eat at the mountain restaurant. An ideal hike for getting away from it all with family or friends, while enjoying the mountains at a leisurely pace.
The Grand Tour of Mont-Chéry via Col Lachat
This route allows you to explore the entire Mont-Chéry area. This hike is signposted "Le Grand Tour du Mont Chéry" (Pink hike). I suggest a variation by climbing Mont-Chéry and passing through the Col de Lachat. Much of this hike offers magnificent views of the Mont Blanc range and the Pre-Alps.
At the foot of the Roc d'Enfer from Graydon via the Col Ratti and the Plan de Criou
A beautiful hike at the foot of the majestic Roc d'Enfer. You will cross the alpine pasture, among colourful mountain flowers and grazing cows, to reach the Col Ratti, the highest point offering a sublime view of Mont Blanc and the Aravis. Along the way, you can admire traditional alpine chalets. And don't be surprised if you see a herd of chamois: they are abundant in this area, which is classified as a "Natura 2000" reserve.
The Tour des Chavannes via the Col de Joux Plane
This hike allows you to discover the Les Gets ski resort. It offers beautiful panoramic views of the Les Gets, Morzine and Samoens valleys. Route through the forest or mid-mountain, passing by the Col and Lac de Joux Plane.
Discovering Saint-Jean-d'Aulps
Set off to explore the village of Saint-Jean-d'Aulps. With its narrow streets and lanes, paths and trails along the river and through the hamlets, you will enjoy the peace and quiet of this family walk. Things to see along the way: Saint-Jean-Baptiste Church, Aulps Abbey, Pont de la Tassonnière bridge, etc. Warning: this route crosses the D902, which is always very dangerous and requires great care.
The Mont Brion circuit
A lovely hike in the hills above Saint-Jean-d'Aulps, crossing two passes. Stunning views to the north over the Cornettes de Bise and to the south over the Roc d'Enfer.
From Ardent to Les Lindarets
Whether you're a keen hiker or simply looking to relax in the heart of nature, this walk is the perfect getaway. Soak up the tranquillity of the forest, cool off by the river and head to the village of Les Lindarets. A surprise awaits you in Les Lindarets: the famous Lindarets goats! Like holidaymakers, they come here to spend the summer grazing. Children will love feeding these free-roaming goats while their parents enjoy the village's sunny terraces.
Brochaux waterfall from Lindarets
An easy hike from Lindarets, known for its goats and traditional architecture, to the magnificent Brochaux waterfall. The trail winds through the woods and you are lulled by the soothing murmur of a pretty river.
As you approach the Cascade des Brochaux, you can hear the gentle murmur of the flowing water. The waterfall, a true natural gem, pours into a natural pool. It is the ideal place for a relaxing break, a picnic in the countryside or simply to enjoy the comforting peace and quiet.
Pointe des Lanches and Pointe de Lens via the Col de l'Aup Couti
A pleasant hike near Morzine-Avoriaz. Climb up to the Col de l'Aup Conti, then cross the ridges. This easy hike offers magnificent views of the surrounding peaks. The start at Les Lindarets, "the village of goats", is unusual and you will be accompanied by lush flora along the way.
Lac Vert from the Ardent cable car station
This easy hike is ideal for a relaxing outing in the mountains. From the shaded path leading to Les Brochaux to the magnificent panoramic views from the Mossettes chairlift, the route alternates between cool forests and breathtaking views. As you descend towards Lac Vert, the majestic Dents du Midi mountains reveal themselves in all their splendour, inviting you to enjoy a sunny picnic by the water's edge. The rest of the walk is just as gentle, following a panoramic path facing the Roc d'Enfer, with the added bonus of peaceful cows dotting the alpine landscape.
N.B. The distance and, above all, the elevation gain shown are overestimated as they include a chairlift ride. For walking, allow for around 8 km of horizontal distance, 100 m of elevation gain and 750 m of elevation loss.
From hamlets to villages between Seytroux and Le Biot
Set off to explore the picturesque hamlets and villages of the Vallée d'Aulps: a hike where nature and culture intertwine throughout the route. Our cultural heritage, surrounded by remarkable nature, will hold no more secrets for you! Along the way, discover the villages of Seytroux, Le Biot, La Baume, the Jotty dam and the superb Mont Ouzon. A trail partly through the forest where you can enjoy the natural coolness of summer.
Warning: this route crosses the D902 twice, which is very dangerous and requires great care.
