Leave Saint-Étienne (Croix de l'Orme district) in the direction of Guizay, then follow the signs for "centre de loisirs" (leisure centre). There are a few parking spaces just after the stadium, at the start of the path on the left that leads to a few houses and a farm.
(S/E) Walk uphill for about 150 metres, then take the marked path on the right. The higher you climb, the clearer the view of the city becomes. Pass under a power line and continue to the junction with the departmental road
(1). Cross the road and walk about 30 metres to the left. Continue along the path that climbs to the right (be careful not to take the path that descends to the dam) and leads first to a house, then to a pylon. Continue along the same path.
(2) As you approach the large antennas, the marked path indicates Saint-Étienne on the left; this is the way back. Continue straight on to the summit.
(3) At the summit (Christ du Guizay), an orientation table provides information about the unique view of the town and the surrounding hills. Behind, you can admire the Guizay plateau and the foothills of the Pilat.
After enjoying the view, turn back.
(2) Turn right towards Saint-Étienne. A little further down, take the road on the left for 300 metres before turning right under the power lines.
(4) At this point, there are several possible routes (see Practical Information). Take the small path (marked) on the right, which leads to Chemin du Guizay, then continue to the junction with Chemin du Bois Noir.
(5) A few metres further on, turn left and go around the allotments at the top. Once you are back on the path you took at the start, turn right to return to your vehicle (S/E).
