Park at Chalet Liotard.
(S/E) Turn left and follow the D974 road up towards the summit. You will reach a hairpin bend with a barrier closing off the road.
(1) Leave the road and take the Piste de la Tête du Chauva opposite, until you reach the signpost for Le Casseù.
(2) Continue south on the Piste de la Tête du Chauva towards Les Grands Pins.
(3) At Grands Pins, turn left (east) onto the Piste du Bâtiment (yellow markings) towards Chalet Reynard.
(4) After about 500 m, before reaching an elevation of 1,464 m, take a path on the left (follow the Trail Bédoin markings). Head north through the forest and then over the scree.
(5) Cross the Vallon de Cournillon and continue on the east-northeast trail.
(6) At the intersection, turn left (north-west). At elevation 1776, turn right towards the summit. Pass in front of the Sainte-Croix Chapel and arrive at the summit (360° panorama).
(7) Continue left on the road (north-east).
Please note that in winter, the descent that follows on theGR® can be very technical and dangerous (snow, ice). Bring equipment suitable for the conditions.
(8) At the end of thefirst bend to the left and well after the panoramic viewpoint, leave the road and take theGR®4, which branches off to the right into the scree. A cairn marks the start of the trail. Follow the red and white markings and the numerous cairns. Descend via numerous switchbacks indicating the turns. Gradually leave the scree and return to the forest. Continue until you reach the forest track.
(9) Continue left on the track (leaving theGR®4andGR®9).
(10) After about 600 m, turn right and descend the steep slope to the road near the campsite.
(11) There are two options from this point:
- To shorten the loop, follow the road to the left to the point (16).
- Otherwise, as shown on the map, turn right and follow the signs for the Henry Fabre trail (large wooden posts with a black silhouette of Henry Fabre). Descend via the switchbacks.
(12) At the crossroads, turn left and continue to follow the Henri Fabre trail markers. Ignore a path on the right, then turn right (east) and walk along the bottom of the Mont Serin resort.
(13) At the Chalet des Sports, turn right, still following the Henri Fabre markings.
(14) At a right-hand bend, turn left onto a path (Henri Fabre signs) until you reach the sheepfold and the road.
(15) At the intersection, turn left and go around Mont Serein to the east. Continue to the Bergerie de l'Avocat and then the D164a road.
(16) Follow the road to the right. At the roundabout, turn left to reach Chalet Liotard (S/E).
