Access by car:
Take the D52 to Bernex. At the village roundabout, turn left onto the Dent d'Oche road towards the hamlet of Trossy, then cross the Morgon Bridge over the Plenets stream. Continue along the road, passing La Feituière restaurant on your left, and continue to the Pré Richard car park at the end of the tarmac road.
On foot:
(S/E) Set off on the ski slope heading due east and leave the small lake on your right. Pass under the ski lift cables. After a slight descent on the ski slope, leave it and take a stony path on the left that enters the undergrowth, turns left and passes through a clearing.
(1) Follow the well-marked dirt track heading south, which is flat at first (ignore the track that branches off to the right). The path climbs and gradually turns south-south-west. Leave the track when it is blocked by a barrier and take a poorly marked path on the left, indicated by a wooden sign saying "Mont Baron" nailed to a fir tree.
Climb southwards under the fir trees, over ground covered with pine needles, and after only 50 metres, you will find a well-marked path on the right that heads west and climbs towards the Col des Bœufs. There are a few slightly exposed sections, but the path is well marked.
(2) At Col des Bœufs (signpost), go through the gate and close it behind you (in case there are herds in the mountain pastures). Then follow the path heading east. In the middle of a few sparse spruce trees, find a path that turns right and climb the steep slope of Mont Baron. Reach the summit after a few hairpin bends.
(3) The descent is via the same path to the car park at Pré Richard (S/E).
