Park at the bottom of Moncontour, at the foot of the ramparts on the edge of the RD 768.
(S/E) Cross the small bridge and walk up Rue Lavigne. Follow the RD1 for about 100 metres.
(1) At the bend, take the Château Bellevue driveway. Just before the gate, go down the path on the right. Then turn left and continue along the path at the edge of the woods.
(2) At the end of Route des Grands Moulins, take the path that climbs steeply to the left. Follow it to Route D1.
(3) Turn left onto the RD1, then take the first farm track on the right. After 200 metres, continue along the path on the left. Follow it to the hamlet of Les Granges Gaudin.
(4) At the hamlet, turn right, then left at the first road. Stay on this small road until the next junction with a road on the right.
(5) Take this track until the next intersection.
(6) Continue left on the path until the next fork at the top of the hill.
(7) Turn left. The path runs alongside the boundary wall of Manoir du Vauclair. At the crossroads, turn left until you reach the old porch of Manoir du Vauclair.
(8) Take the path on the right, opposite the porch. At the crossroads, turn left. At the bend, continue straight ahead on a small path that descends and joins the old Moncontour railway station.
(9) Take the greenway, the old railway line. Follow it until you reach a water tank on the right.
(10) Immediately afterwards, take the hairpin turn to the right. Stay on the path overlooking the valley. You can see the Château des Granges on your left and a beautiful view of the town and ramparts on your right. The path leads to the D1. Cross the road with caution. Opposite is a small staircase leading down to the wash house. Follow it down Rue Lavigne and turn right to return to the starting point (S/E).
