Mas de Franc - Porté-Puymorens

(S) From Mas Franc, cut across the pastures towards the south-west to avoid an unnecessary detour along the road. (Ask our hosts for directions: no difficulty). Rejoin the^GRP® Tour du Carlit in the car park.

(1) Follow the small road and after the bridge, a signpost indicates the direction to Porté-Puymorens.
Take the^GRP® Variante du Tour du Carlit on the right, marked in red and yellow. Stay on this variant to rejoin the actual GRP® further on^.

(2) Continue opposite on the^GRP® to reach the Cabane Sola, opposite the Collet de la Mula. To do this, proceed in two stages:
- the first part follows the stream (Riu de Bena) which is fairly well terraced (gradual climb)
- the second part is much tougher and takes us opposite the Cabane Sola del Roc Grimau.

(3) From there, the climb becomes gentler to reach Ras de Salit (high mountain pastures) and then Coll de l'Home Mort (the highest point of the stage).

(4) Begin the descent down the steep slope between the fir trees on the high-altitude grasslands. Look carefully for the path as the markers are quite far apart. Enter the forest where the path winds its way downhill, reaching the junction with the path climbing up to Coma Pregona.

(5) Keep right on the^GRP® to continue the very long, shaded descent that ends at the Porté-Puymorens lodge (E).
