Description of the walk

Park in the car park where the children's playground is located on the Route de Font Remeu (D618).

(S/E) From the car park, return to the D618 road and turn right, following the red and yellow markings ofthe GRP® Tour de Cerdagne. Cross the Angoustrine river via the road bridge and immediately leave the road, following theGRP® on the left.

(1) Follow Rue de la Filature. Pass the spinning mill. Further on, leave the tarmac road and take theGRP®, which climbs to the left for a short distance before joining the ridge line.

(2) At an elevation of 1621 metres, join a track and follow it to the right for a few metres before leaving it to take the path that climbs to the left, heading due north. Later, you will reach an intersection.

(3) Leave theGRP® which branches off to the right. Take a small yellow-marked path on the left which descends into the undergrowth. Continue along the balcony path before descending again into the undergrowth. You will reach a flat area where you will find the Barraca de Prat Carrera orry and rejoin theGRP® Tour du Carlit.

(4) Continue left, crossing the Angoustrine river again on a footbridge (there is a water intake here). Further on, cross the Rieral dels Estanyets and descend very slightly to the Sant Marti d'Envalls chapel.

(5) Stay on theGRP® for another hundred metres until you reach an intersection.

(6) Leave theGRP®, which heads off to the right, and take the track opposite. Follow this track southwards, which turns into a road, until you come to a sharp left-hand bend.

(7) Leave the road at this point and continue straight ahead along the path, ignoring the yellow cross.

(8) Enter the village and follow the street to the left (Carrer San Marti). When you reach another intersection, turn left again and follow theGRP® Tour de Cerdagne to the car park (S/E).

A very beautiful hike of moderate difficulty, as indicated in the guidebook.
The climb at the start is a bit tough and the traverse between points 3 and 4 is a bit long
Otherwise, the route offers a varied landscape with some beautiful panoramic views!
Highly recommended

A very pleasant hike, easily manageable with children. We did it with an 8-year-old child without any problems. The trail is clearly marked and very easy to follow.

At stage 1, after "pass the spinning mill", add "then follow the road that goes up to the right" otherwise you will be misled and risk taking paths full of scrub that go up the ridge, which is not a very pleasant experience...
At number 2, mention the fence (consisting of two electric wires that must be put back in place after crossing) just before leaving the track to take the path that climbs to the left.
At number 3, add a message such as "proceed with caution as this is a very steep section" when climbing the "balconies" to avoid any unpleasant surprises.
Otherwise, it was very clear, congratulations to the authors!👍

On the way back after visiting the chapel, I suggest crossing to the left bank at the footbridge near the ford at a place called Els Pauls, then walking 50 metres up the track to take the yellow-marked path on the left bank rather than the track on the right bank. It is much shadier and much less busy.

A pleasant walk allowing you to discover the Angoustrine river and its landscapes.
The proximity of the water gives an illusion of coolness, but there is little shade.
