Description of the walk

(S) We left Manang via the north-west, now leaving the Marsyanghi and the path leading to Lake Tilicho on our left.

(1) We continued along the banks of the Marsyanghi’s tributary, the Jharsang Khola, and began a short but steep climb to reach Gunseng (4,000 m).

(2) Then follow a long contour line that leads back along the river to the Yak Kharka lodge (E).

Notes

We arrived in Yak Kharka quite early – the stage is indeed short – so we spent our free time at a leisurely pace. Naps, reading, drawing, and looking after ourselves (a few of us had caught a cough). But above all, there was singing and dancing with the porters and the support team.

Worth a visit

The altitude combined with the cold took its toll, and the night was a bit of a struggle for some. However, this is our eighth day, we’ve acclimatised perfectly, and we’re all in great shape despite the colds; what’s more, the highlight is drawing near, so spirits are high.
