(2) Leave the river behind and begin a long but easy climb up to the village of Kurung.

(3) Continue westwards, almost on a level course, passing through Koto Qupar to reach the plain at Chame (E).

Notes

Here, it’s a complete change: the high mountains look very close, but it will still take a great deal of effort to reach them. However, they are clearly visible: Manaslu to the east and Annapurna II (A2) directly opposite to the west. It is worth noting that here, in Dharapani, two routes converge: the Manaslu Route, which heads north-east, and the Annapurna Route, which heads north-west and then due west.

Worth a visit

The two peaks already mentioned: Manaslu and A2.
