Park at Maison-Dieu (a village near Losne) opposite the Auberge du Paradis.
(S/E) Join the Route de Dôle, turn right and then take the first right onto Rue des Moreaux. At the crossroads, turn left onto Ruelle des Vaches, which continues as a dirt track. Continue until you reach a place called Le Châtaigner.
(1) Turn right and continue. After the barrier, enter the Forêt du Pochon and continue along this wide path.
The lane curves to the right and joins the Route Forestière René Vinay.
(2) Walk along the deforested plots before arriving at a road, which you follow for 100 metres before turning left into the woods (plots 34/36). Long, shady grassy path for 500 metres. Arrive at the A36 motorway.
(3) Continue along the path on the right, which is the Route Forestière des Noues. Note the trees lining the plots.
Continue to the junction with the Paradis forest road.
(4) Turn left until you reach plots 47/48, then turn right. At the end, walk along the woods on your right for 50 metres until you find a field path, which you follow until you reach the junction with the tarmac road.
(5) Take the white path opposite for 250 metres, then turn left to reach the village. On the right, between three beautiful lime trees, is the Croix Girard. Turn left into the housing estate.
At the small roundabout, continue straight ahead to return to the car park (S/E).
. Some of the trees are truly magnificent, the cypress avenue is spectacular and we were accompanied all along the way by butterflies and dragonflies.
