Boucle de Tart-le-haut - Tart l'Abbaye et Tart-le-bas

When you arrive in Tart-le-Haut, head towards Échigey via the D116, Rue Principale. On leaving Tart-le-Haut, you will see a water tower. Park opposite it in the car park on the left-hand side of the road, where you will see a sign indicating a 4.5 km hike.

(S/E) From the car park, take the white path towards the forest, south-east. Leave a track on your left and you will come to a Y-junction.

(1) Take the path on the left, passing in front of a model aeroplane club, then enter the woods. Take the first track on the left and, at the end of it, turn left for a few metres to rejoin a forest path on the right leading to the edge of the forest.

(2) Continue right along the edge, then re-enter the forest, following the first path for 800 metres. Then turn left towards the village of Tart-l'Abbaye.

(3) At^{the first} crossroads, turn right onto Chemin du Bois des Dames and continue left onto Ruelle Bouquin. Then turn left onto Rue des Bernardines and continue to the bend.

(4) Turn right onto Chemin du Moulin. Go around the left side of the building and follow the Géline for 1 km along a grassy path.

(5) At the end, take the field path on the right, which bends to the left and leads directly to the road to Tart-le-Bas. Follow this road to the left.

(6) At the next crossroads, turn right onto Grande Rue, go through the two bends, then follow Chemin de Bolot to the left until you reach Rue du Balaisot (Tart-le-haut), walking along the fields on the grassy path.

(7) At the crossroads with Rue de la Tiare, take this street on the left towards Rue de la Guerre, then turn left onto Rue du Four Banal for just over fifty metres.

(8) Turn right onto Chemin de Touillon to reach the main street and follow it to the left until you reach the car park (S/E).

Tart-le-Haut: the Church of the Sacred Heart is a neo-Gothic religious building erected in the 19th century.

Tart-l'Abbaye: a small chapel located before the cemetery on the left as you leave the village centre. The first female foundation of the Cistercian order, thanks to the exhibition in the village chapel (photocopies of parchments, paving tiles, etc.). You will journey through history from the abbey's foundation to its demise.
The estate, sold during the French Revolution, still belongs to the same family of farmers who preserve its memory and provide guided tours.
