Lilia - Aber Wrac'h

The route follows the GR®34 from Llia beach to the port of Aber Weac’h. It runs along the rugged coastline and offers magnificent views of Île Wrac’h and Île Vierge, as well as the lighthouses of the same name. The route presents no particular difficulties, either in terms of navigation or physically. The route faces west, which exposes it to the prevailing wind, which can blow strongly at times.

This walk is part of a multi-day hike: The Eastern Abers: from Guissény to Portsall

Description of the walk

Start from the car park at Lilia Church.

(S) Walk round the church and past the lodge on your right. Continue, keeping to the left. Pass the hamlet of Méchou Kamm Doun on your right, then Kervelt and the Dom Mickael residence. At the next junction, ignore the dead-end on the left and head towards Porz Kervel on the left after about 50 metres, then continue straight on towards Porz Kerve and rejoin the GR®34 at the beach.

Red and white GR®34 markings

(1) Head west, to the left, following the GR®34 and staying on the coastal path,

(2) On reaching Pointe de Castell Ac'h, enjoy a lovely view of Île Vierge. Continue along the GR®34 by the sea to Œil Sculpté.

(3) Continue to Kerazan Vraz, still following the coast. When you reach the end of the road at Kerazan Vraz, turn left until you reach the Fork in the road.

(4) The GR®34 splits into two; take the right-hand path to rejoin the coastal path. Continue along the GR®34 to Kerougoun. When you reach this hamlet, take the path on the right and follow it to Menez Perro. Then turn right and then left.

(5) After the car park, take the road on the left and continue straight on to reach the hamlet of "Perroz Menez Izella". Take the small road downhill to the right. After 300 metres, take the grassy path on the right to reach the shore of the Aber Wrac’h. Continue along the GR®34, keeping as far to the right as possible.

(6) The path joins a road. Cross the bridge on the right and, just after the bridge, at the corner of the house, take the path on the right. Continue along the GR®34 until you reach the A-road. Turn right until you reach the bridge over the Aber Wrac’h.

(7) Cross the bridge and follow the D113.

(8) After 600 metres, at the car park, turn right to continue on the GR®34. After 850 metres, follow the path which turns left and climbs gently for about 300 metres.

(9) At the junction, take care not to miss the path on the right which descends towards the beach. Follow the path. It passes a boat graveyard on the right and turns right to cross a small stream below. Then take a left turn, followed by a right turn and a final left turn. Climb up to the place known as "Kerviré".

(10) Take the road to the right, then turn right again onto a dirt track. Continue along the GR®34, which rejoins the shore of the Aber Wrac’h. After Kameuleud, take the dead-end road to the right, passing Traon Bizin and a shipyard just before a crossroads.

(11) Take the road on the right for 150 metres, then the path on the right that runs along the beach. Continue until you reach the harbour. Cross over to the western jetty (E).
