Park in the small car park on Grand Rue, north of Flavignerot town hall.
(S/E) Return to the town hall and turn left into Rue de la Remise to go around it. Turn right about twenty metres further on and take the narrow path that descends quite steeply along a brown wooden fence on the left. Yellow markings.
(1) Continue straight ahead, pass the gates on Rue du Château, then walk along the right-hand side of a small triangular square to take a yellow-marked path along a wire fence at the bottom of this square, at gate no. 17. The yellow markings will take you to Rente de Chamerey.
This path descends to the bottom of a small valley, crosses a stream and then climbs back up to a forest path. Take this path on the right for about ten metres.
(2) Take the yellow-marked trail on the left that climbs into the forest. Continue to a second forest road, which you take on the right. This road goes around Mont de Siège to a path that you follow on the right and which descends straight ahead, heading south. Follow the yellow markings to the bottom of the slope.
(3) Turn right onto a white path that is almost passable by vehicle and follow it to its end, a sort of round square about 500 m away. Then take the path on the left that climbs to Rente de Chamerey, still marked in yellow.
Go around the Rente de Chamerey on the right and climb up to La Toppe. As the main path is difficult to walk on, it is doubled by the path taken by hikers.
(4) At the top of the climb, continue straight on theGR® 7 towards La Toppe.
(5) When you reach the Col de la Toppe, indicated by a sign with two CAF red trail signs underneath, descend to the left on the fairly wide unmarked path and follow it for about 1,200 metres until you see the Écotois farm buildings on your left. When you reach a white path, take it to the left for about 100 metres.
(6) Turn right onto a path just before the edge of the woods. Please note that the Écotois farm is private property and visitors are not allowed to stop there.
(7) After about 1 km, follow a small valley (do not try to cut across) and at the end of the valley, at a fork, take the path on the left which joins the main path, which has been damaged by forestry machinery. After 800 m, this path meets another path crossing it.
(9) Then take the path on the left that descends to La Rente de Leuzeu, where you can stop for a picnic.
From Leuzeu, take the path that climbs north-northwest into Combe au Chène, cross the ditch coming from the Chène fountain and then, 100 m further on, follow the valley to the right towards Col de Leuzeu. Do not be confused by the numerous blue and white markings, which are sometimes contradictory.
Continue for about 600 metres and do not take the first path on the right.
(10) Take the next path on the right (Jean Sage route on the IGN map) just before the Col du Leuzeu.
(11) At Col de la Miaille, follow the widest path on the left, which slopes down with a right-hand bend. At the start, the path is paved with stone slabs, then you need to take a hiking trail on the left of the main path, which doubles back and runs alongside this very rutted and damp sunken path. In the distance on the left, you can see the village of Flavignerot.
(12) At the bottom of the valley, at a place called l'Étoile, a sign points to Flavignerot via theGR®7. Head in this direction, then after about 20 metres, you have two options: in cool weather, follow theGR®7to the left to Flavignerot, but in hot, sunny weather, leave theGR®7and continue straight ahead on the path (choice of route). This passes under the Château de Flavignerot and then joins the path under the town hall that you took at the start.
(1) Then turn left and go up under the town hall. Next, join the Grand Rue and the car park (S/E).
