Car park at the retirement home in Saint-Martin-de-Valamas.
(S/E) Opposite the retirement home, follow the old railway line to the right. Cross the old bridge and just after a house on the right, join theGR®420A(signpost for Rochebonne).

(1) Follow it to the left through the woods and start climbing. Continue on this path until you reach a small road.
(2) Follow it to the right for 100 metres and take the path that branches off to the left just before Nant Paillez. At a fork in the path at a small stream, continue to the right and head north.
(3) When you reach a fork at the foot of the castle, continue left to go around the castle and see it from the outside. Join the alternative trail and continue left until you reach the orientation table.

(4) At the orientation table, follow the D478 road to the left until you reach a junction with a small road (signposted).
(5) Take this small road on the left towards Les Blaches.
(6) In the hairpin bend before Les Blaches, take the path on the right and follow the left fork at the three-way junction.
(7) At the meadow, turn left onto a path that is not very visible at first, which descends and joins a well-marked path. At the next two forks, continue downhill to the left.
(8) Just before arriving at the village, the path turns right (contrary to what is indicated on the maps). Just after this bend, leave the path to join the road below. Follow this road to the left to return to the car park at the start (S/E).
