Preliminary remark: The entire route uses yellow or white and yellow markings, which are fairly well done. Thanks to the markers.
Park in the car park at Intre Town Hall.
(S/E) Start opposite the town hall. Take the street on the left that runs alongside the town hall, then at the next crossroads, turn right onto the street. This street then turns left and leads to a stone bridge over the Eyrieux.
Cross the bridge and climb the winding path to reach the D 120. Follow it to the left for about a hundred metres, then leave it via a road that climbs to the right. You will come to a left-hand bend.
(1) At the bottom of the bend, find a path that climbs steeply before turning into a track in the woods. This leads to meadows and a road. Cross this road and take the path opposite that climbs up through the meadows. This path rejoins the road you left earlier, with an access road to the hamlet of Le Monteil and the pylon. Follow this access road opposite, which runs alongside the hamlet and heads towards the pylon. Just before you reach it, find a path on the right.
(2) Take this path to continue the climb and enter a beech forest. You will immediately come to a crossroads of forest tracks.
(3) Take the left-hand track and continue climbing. Walk past a ruin and an isolated house above the path. The track levels out and reaches the isolated house of La Pinée.
(4) Leave the track and take the path that climbs to the right through the meadows. At another junction (signposted), continue straight ahead, ignoring the path that branches off to the right, and enter the woods.
You will come out onto a wide track. Take it on the left, start a slight descent and you will reach a road.
(5) Cross it and take the path opposite. Begin the descent into the woods (do not take the access road to Les Goutallières). The path becomes a track that descends between meadows and woods. You will reach a crossroads.
(6) Turn left, making a loop. Cross the stream and then climb quite steeply before joining a path that follows the contour line. Come out into the meadows and reach a road at a bend. Skirt this road, continuing straight ahead on a path that descends into the meadows (passing close to an abandoned farm). Descend into the woods and reach the access path to an isolated house.
(7) Cross this access path to continue straight ahead (steep descent) and then turn right onto the path, which becomes less steep. Walk along the meadows before reaching the hamlet of Chambonnet Haut.
(8) Take the main road, follow it for a few metres to the left before descending to the right into the hamlet via a passageway. Reach a small road, take it to the right and cross a bridge. Shortly after the bridge, leave the road on the left and take a carriage road that leads to a beautiful stone bridge over the Rimande.
(9) Walk along a meadow, then start climbing into the woods to reach a road further on.
(10) Climb this road on the right, pass the hamlet of Signe Bernard, then reach a hairpin bend.
(11) Leave the road and take a path that soon descends through woods, moorland, meadows and woods. This will take you to a small road near the hamlet of Tabuant. Take this road on the right to reach the hamlet and Impasse du Serre, signposted on the left.
(12) Continue along this cul-de-sac, which turns into a path, and you will reach a small road. Follow it to the left to join the D 120. Cross it and take a small road that soon crosses the Eyrieux.
(13) You will come to another road; take it on the right towards Chambonnet Bas. You will reach a crossroads once you are in the hamlet.
(14) Go up to the left along the road near a house. The road turns into a path. Cross a stream and then begin a steep climb. You will then reach the Dolce Via greenway, used by hikers and cyclists.
(15) Take this wide track on the left and continue to reach a viaduct. Cross it.
(16) Descend on the left via the road to reach Intres and the town hall car park (S/E).
