Park at the Balme car park, located below the church.
(S/E) From the car park, turn right onto Rue de la Balme and continue to the junction, then turn left onto Rue René Cassin and follow it to Ouradou.
(1) At the Ouradou crossroads, take the road on the left, then the footpath on your right. Continue along the footpath to Farayruc.
(2) Go round the houses, cross the road and follow the path on the right until you reach the next road, which you cross.
(3) Continue along this shaded path, ignoring the three paths on your right, until you reach the junction with another road.
(4) At the road, turn right for a few metres, then take the path on the right which goes round the sewage treatment works on the left, then turns left to reach a crossroads.
(5) Take the path on the left at the hairpin bend, follow it straight on towards the south until you reach the Rec de Nore.
(6) When you reach the road, at a crossroads turn left, passing through a farm, and continue until you reach the road. Cross the D622 and head up the path into the Lacaune State Forest.
(7) Turn left into the forest, then turn right and carry on to the Col de Piquotalen.
(8) Cross the road and head straight ahead onto the forest track (cross-country ski and snowshoe trail).
(9) At this fork in the tracks, ignore the track on the right and carry on straight ahead.
(10) At the Y-junction, turn left and continue along the track.
(11) Head uphill to the left through the forest and carry on to the Roc des Écus.
(12) After the viewpoint overlooking Lacaune, continue down to the right through the woods and, at the first junction, turn left.
(13) At the road, near a motocross track on the left, turn right towards Plo de Pinel, and in front of an abandoned farm, turn left and head down into the woods.
(14) At this point, there are two options:
- either continue down the slope straight ahead (marked route),
- or go to the right and join the path further down.
Carry on to the village, where you can visit the “Vieux Lacaune” museum and see the “Fontaine des Pisseurs” fountain in the square (S/E).
