Access: take the Raon road then the Montiroche road. The road ends in a dirt track where you can park and say hello to the pretty deer in the park. We are not far from the Etang de Huchère.
(S/E) Continue on foot along this path, following the green triangle and red cross markings. Turn left above the pond, still following the same markings.
(1) Leave the path on your left, which will be the return route, and continue to the Rond Caillou crossroads.
(2) When you reach the tarmac road, turn left. 100 metres further on, turn right into the car park and take the small path that climbs behind the notice board. Follow the double yellow and blue circle markings and climb 200 metres.
(3) Cross a small road (very beautiful view of the Saint-Nabord valley). Take the main path opposite, still following the yellow and blue circles. This is a large stone path that climbs up to the Bennevises chalet, where you reach the highest point of the walk. Continue to the next fork a little further than the chalet.
(4) Turn right.
(5) At the next crossroads (elevation 594), turn left. Continue along the wide main path to the Vrupt clearing and its few isolated farms (I even came across some horses roaming free...).
(6) A little further on after this clearing, leave the yellow and blue marked trail and continue straight ahead, slightly to the left, until the next crossroads (elevation 507).
(7) Take the second path on the left.
(8) 150 metres further on, take the path on the left marked with yellow rectangles marked FFRD - CDRP). This is the edge of a forest plot and you just need to follow the markings, going straight ahead at each intersection.
(9) When you reach the wide dirt track, turn right and then, 100 metres further on, take a small forest track on the left. This track curves sharply to the left and climbs gently into the forest. Ignore all the tracks on either side.
(10) At the end of this small path, follow the green circle marked route on the right, cross the Harmangouty clearing, and continue along the same path until you reach the tarmac road. Turn right to reach the Croix des Pestiférés crossroads.
(11) Turn right, then left 200 metres further on at a place called Bénipré. Follow the small road until you come to a house and a pond on the right.
(12) In the bend just after, take the path on the left. Then turn right onto the dirt track (green triangle) and continue to a fork.
(13) Turn right again, following the yellow circle markings.
(14) After about 1 km, in a large right-hand bend after the house, take the small path on the left marked with a red cross.
(15) When this path makes a hairpin turn to the right, go straight ahead and rejoin the path you took at the start.
(1) Turn right, cross back over the pond and descend towards the car (S/E).
