Park in the Espace Charles Bringuier car park. Head to Rue des Monts du Matin and turn left. Walk until you reach the roundabout.
(S/E) At the roundabout, look for the small black wrought iron cross and take the road just to its left (route des Pinets - no sign). 150m further on, at the left-hand bend, continue along this road, cross the Charlieu stream and arrive at the junction with Chemin des Prèles.
(1) Turn right, continue past the houses on a dirt road sheltered by woods and you will reach a first crossroads.
(2) Turn left. The road climbs north-east. Follow it to the tarmac road (back onto Route des Pinets).
(3) Turn left, follow the road for a few dozen metres and, just before an abandoned house, take the first dirt track on the right. Follow it until you reach another road.
(4) Turn left and walk about 200 metres along this road.(Alternatively, you can go directly from point 4 to point 7, which short-circuits the northern loop.)
(5) Turn into the second road on the right (Chemin des Rouvres). This road is paved at the start, then descends and becomes stony. Follow it to the first fork, then turn right (Chemin des Simples) until you reach the road that leads to the hamlet of Papelissier. Turn right, follow this road and cross the Limace stream.
(6) After about 20 metres, look for the small path on the right marked "Chemin de la Marjolaine" which leads into the woods. Follow it along the Limace stream on your left, pass a house, admire the large oak tree and continue along the path until you come to a road opposite a house (route de Saint-Martin).
(7) Turn left and follow the road for about 500 metres until you reach the next crossroads.
(8) Then turn right onto Chemin de Cizeranne, pass a large square building and continue straight ahead on the path. When you reach the fork where there is a sign for "Chemin des Aubépines", do not turn left but continue straight ahead until you come to a house on a road (again Route des Pinets).
(9) Turn left and walk about 500 metres along this road with the church of Saint-Mamans opposite.(Alternatively, you can go directly from point 9 to point 12, which short-circuits the south-east loop)
(10) Turn right once, then right again a few dozen metres further on. There is no sign at this point, but 400 metres further on, you will see a sign for "Route de la Tour du Chanoine Chevalier". Continue for another 500 metres until you reach a junction with a sign for "Chemin de Biquendot".
(11) Turn right and follow this road. Go through a small wood and you will arrive at a large green hangar.
(12) Near the hangar, you will rejoin the Route des Pinets. Continue straight ahead on this road for about 300 metres and turn left onto Chemin de la Part Dieu (signposted). This road is stony and descends before becoming tarmac. Pass an old chicken farm and cross the Charlieu stream.
Immediately after a large old house, turn right onto the grassy path.
Follow this road, cross the stream again and, after about 80 metres, you will come to the crossroads you passed earlier.
(2) Turn left. Return to the Chemin des Presles at the start, sheltered by the woods; after the houses, return to the Route des Pinets.
(1) Take this road on the left to return to the car park where you started (S/E).
