From Schirmeck, take the D392 towards the Col du Donont. Park at this point.
Markings:GR®5, Red Rectangle and Sentier du Donon
(S/E) From the forest house car park, cross the road and take the Chemin du Haut Donon opposite. Stay on the track that climbs uphill and crosses a road.
(1) Take the path opposite, which forms a circular path. At each junction, continue straight ahead until you reach the next road.
(2) Take the Escalier de l'Empereur, turn left, and join the Donon platform on the left. From the platform, continue to the right on the path that climbs directly to the summit and its temple.
(3) Enjoy the view from the summit.
Red rectangle and blue diamond markings
Continue along the path that descends on the opposite side. At the crossroads, keep to the right, then left again at the next one. Then follow four hairpin bends to reach an intersection. Turn right, then left. Then join a track on the left.
(4) Turn right until you reach the pass between the two Donons.

(5) Continue straight ahead twice to take the path on the left that leads to the Col de la Côte de l'Engin. Continue along the path downhill to the pass.
No markings
(6) Cross the road carefully and follow it to the right for 150 metres. At the path coming from the left, turn slightly onto it and immediately follow the path on the right to enter the German military cemetery.
(7) Return to the Col de la Côte de l'Engin.
(6) Turn left onto the Route Forestière du Petit Donon (barrier). 10 m after the barrier, turn left onto the unmarked path that descends rapidly. Follow this path for 400 m to reach a marked trail.
Markings: Red Ring and Red Horse
(8) Follow this path on the right until you reach the next path coming from the left. First turn left then right. Then cross a forest road.
Yellow disc markings
(9) After crossing, take a sharp right turn and follow the Yellow Disc marked trail (be careful, the trail quickly turns left, so keep an eye on the markings). Continue to the pass at the foot of Petit Donon.
(10) Turn right onto the forest road, then immediately right again onto the trail marked with yellow discs and red rings. After an 800-metre climb, the trail turns left (marked with yellow discs, red rings and blue triangles).
(11) 200 m further on, at the crossroads, climb to the left following the single Yellow Disc markings to reach the summit of Petit Donon.
(12) Retrace your steps.
(1) Take the path marked with a yellow disc, red ring and blue triangle on the left. Take the path marked with a yellow disc, red disc and yellow triangle on the right to Col Entre-Ies-deux-Donons.
(5) Turn left onto a track and follow the same route as on the way up to reach a fork you passed on the way up.
(4) Follow the track opposite marked with a blue cross to the first crossroads to return to the initial fork.
(1) Continue straight ahead and follow the same route as on the way there to reach the (S/E).
