Parking is available at the Auberge de la Shepherd's Hut car park.
(S/E) Head south along the path. After crossing the main road, take the first right. About 250 metres further on, take the small path on your left and continue until you reach Crêt de la Perdrix.
(1) Head east until you reach a crossroads. Turn right and, a few metres further on, turn left onto another small path. Continue along this path until you reach Crêt de la Chèvre.
(2) Leave Crêt de la Chèvre, heading north until you reach a small refuge.
(3) Turn right immediately after passing the small refuge and follow the path. At the first crossroads, continue straight ahead and then take the left-hand path. You should then follow the direction of Col de l'Étançon.
(4) Follow the small path heading due east. Take the first path on your right towards Crêt de l'Étançon. At the ridge, continue straight ahead towards Col du Racha to reach Crêt du Rachat (there is a metal antenna nearby).
Follow the path heading northeast to reach Col de Botte.
(5) Continue heading due east and, at the three-way junction, take the left-hand path. You will then pass north of Crêt de Botte and join a wider path.
(6) Head east on a fairly stony, sloping path. Then cross a large gravel car park and continue straight ahead. Climb up towards the barriers along the road and climb over them.
(7) Go around the large radio antenna to the north, following the path to the left of the entrance to the protected area. You will then arrive near Crêt de l'Œillon and must take a path to the north (be careful, you will have to walk over large piles of stones, so take extra care here).
Continue along a wider path for about 700 m to reach Chaux d'Égallet.
(8) Follow the path on the left and turn right at the first three-way junction. At the second three-way junction, turn left. Ignore the first path on the right and at the next three-way junction, turn right.
(9) Look out for a very small path on your right and follow it. The path is very steep and joins a wide track. When you reach this track, turn left and follow it for a few kilometres until you come to a three-way junction in the wide tracks.
(10) Turn left and follow the wide path for a few kilometres.
(11) Turn left onto the very stony central path and follow it. The path climbs steadily. Follow this path until you reach the Auberge de la Shepherd's Hut (S/E).
