Park in the large Aquaval car park (Lautrec sports complex below the village) on the edge of the D92.
Yellow markings for the Sentier des Crêtes trail
(S/E) When you leave the Aquaval car park, head west and cross the D92 carefully. Take the small road opposite, which climbs towards Combeléouse and La Coffe. After 200 metres, at the corner of a house, turn right onto a grassy path that climbs through the fields. Continue climbing towards a large house overlooking the hill. After the summit, you will come to a road.
(1) Cross the D83 carefully and continue straight ahead. A little further on, follow a path on the right signposted La Boucardié. Stay on this path marked in yellow.
(2) As you approach a small road, take a grassy path on the right heading south-east. You will reach a small road in the hills above Lautrec. Take it to the left for 100 metres and turn right onto Chemin de La Bade, which will take you to a fork in the road. There is a beautiful view of old Lautrec and its mill.
Yellow markings for the Tumulus Route
(3) At this point, turn left 170° onto Chemin de Cantegrel. Leave this path on the left after Chemin du Château d'Eau, following the sign for Le Tumulus. Continue north on a grassy path that leads to the D30 at a waste collection point.
(4) Turn left, then 200 metres further on, leave the road and take a signposted path on your right: Route des Tumulus. Leave Pezouls on your left.
(5) Cross and continue straight ahead, passing under the high-voltage power line, on a path that climbs north to La Grayssalié and then Cabrilles.
(6) At Cabrilles, turn right onto the road, then left, leaving La Gardiole behind you to reach Grayssac.
(7) At the houses in Grayssac, turn left onto the road and pass in front of a church and its cemetery. Continue and pass Lauzeral.
(8) Then turn right onto a dirt track that descends, crosses the Vidalès stream and gradually climbs through the fields towards L'Auroulié.
(9) Before Auroulié, take a grassy path on your right that descends towards the Voie Verte at a crossroads surrounded by fir trees (elevation 230).
(10) At this point, follow the wide path on your right, which is ideal for cyclists and hikers. This path (the former railway line from Castres to Albi and then Rodez) continues south-east for 7 km and crosses several roads and small roads (D41, D92, D67, etc.). At each junction, continue straight ahead. At the end of the route, pass under two bridges.
(11) Start a circular to the south-west at Salvepoule.
(12) Continue under the high-voltage power line and pass Montespieu.
(13) At elevation 213, leave the Greenway and turn right onto a small gravel path. Climb steeply, then turn right onto a grassy path marked "Le Circuit des Tumulus". This path rejoins the Chemin des Sols. Turn right, then almost immediately left onto Chemin des Jardins. You will come to a very pretty wash house (worth visiting and seeing the surroundings).
(14) Continue left onto Chemin du Lavoir. Cross two roads and pass under the rampart gate to enter old Lautrec. Walk a few metres and take the uphill street on your right, which will take you to Rue de l'Église and then to Place du Monument.
Take a few moments to stroll around and appreciate the charm of this village, and don't forget to visit the old Moulin de la Salette mill and the Calvaire.
(15) To the west of the mill, walk down through the village on Rue du Barry. Cross the D83 carefully, then after 50 metres, turn right onto the small road signposted L'Oustalarié. Further on, continue to the right, heading west, on the path that takes you back to the Aquaval car park (S/E).
