Departure from the town hall of Courcelles-lès-Gisors. Head for the car park located along Rue de la Ferme.
No signposts
(S/E) Follow Rue de la Ferme eastwards (with your back to the gate flanked by two turrets on the perpendicular street). At the crossroads, continue straight ahead, still on Rue de la Ferme. When the road turns sharply to the left, turn right (east) onto a farm track. Ignore a path on the right and continue along a grassy path.
(1) Cross a small road and continue straight ahead. Note the view of the medieval castle and Gisors collegiate church on your left. Cross the D157 and continue along the small road opposite.
(2) Just after the sign for Le Boisgeloup, turn right onto a dead-end road. Cross Rue Utrillo twice on the left-hand side and continue along the alleyway, which has become a one-way street. At the end, turn right and go up Rue Pablo Picasso, ignoring the paths and dead-end roads on either side. You will come to a small square (with a chapel and castle that belonged to Picasso on the right).
Yellow markings
(3) Follow Rue de la Cavée to the left. At the crossroads, continue straight ahead into the street, which becomes a dead end. Enter a wood and climb slightly along the wall of a property on the right-hand side. At the foot of a transmitter, continue straight ahead and climb more gently.
(4) At the fork, turn right at the edge of the woods on your right. At the corner of the woods, continue straight ahead between the fields, parallel to a power line. Further on, walk along the woods on your left, then turn left to enter the woods. You will come to a T-junction.
(5) Then turn right. At the edge of the woods, walk along a blackcurrant plantation on your left. Cross the D157, walk along the buildings on your right and continue through the undergrowth on a wide path between two fences. Ignore a path on your right and begin a gentle descent. Leave the woods and walk along blackcurrant bushes on your right. At the next crossroads, continue straight ahead and cross a small wood.
(6) When you leave the woods, continue straight ahead between the fields (ignore theGR® andPR® markings inviting you to descend to the right, this is a variant, see practical information). Note the view of Gisors on the right. Cross a small road (reservoir) and continue opposite on a gravel track.
(7) When the track gives way to a grassy path, descend under the shade. Continue the descent, alternating between passages at the edge of the woods, in the undergrowth and along blackcurrant plantations.
(8) You will come to a road; follow it to the left. At the stop sign (wash house on the left), turn right, go downhill and cross a lane on the left.
(9) At the "Give Way" sign, cross the D181 at the pedestrian crossing (take care) and follow it to the right for about 50 metres. Then turn left onto Chemin de l'Epte (tarmac) towards the Voie Verte. Descend, ignoring the turnings on the right (castle in the distance on the left, dovecote on the right).
(10) At the entrance to a hamlet, turn right onto the Voie Verte, a tarmac cycle path that is also open to pedestrians. Walk under the shade and you will soon see the River Epte on your left, beyond a fenced-off meadow (no access to the riverbank).
(11) Shortly before a picnic table (or at the picnic table), turn right onto a grassy path which initially runs parallel to the cycle path. The path then branches off from the cycle path. Walk along a meadow on your left, continue along a stony path and enter a wood.
Yellow + red and white markings
(12) At the end of the path, follow theGR®125along a small road on the right towards Courcelles (ignore the yellow arrow pointing to the bridge on the left; we are following a variant ofthe PR®).
(13) At number 65, turn right and go up Rue d'Inval (be careful, the left-hand side is narrow, so stick to the right-hand side). At the traffic lights (with a view of a ruined keep opposite), cross the D191 and continue straight ahead. Turn left then right along the school. You will then come to the gate with two turrets and, on the left, Rue de la Ferme and the town hall car park (S/E).
