Description of the walk

There is a small car park at the starting point in front of the primary school.

(S/E) The primary school is on your right. Walk a few dozen metres and turn right onto Rue des Grès Valois.

(1) Turn right onto Chemin d'Alincourt, which is paved at the beginning and then becomes a dirt road. Continue until you reach a road.

(2) Turn right and follow the tarmac road. Then turn right again onto Rue des Fauvettes.

(3) Carefully cross the D15, then the hamlet of Valécourt and climb up to Chemin aux Ânes at the edge of the hamlet.

(4) Turn left onto this path, go through a wood and you will arrive at the GR® 125.

GR® 125 marked in white and red

(5) Follow it to the right until the next crossroads.

(6) At the end, turn right then immediately left and continue towards Montjavoult.

(7) Leave the cemetery behind you and continue along Rue de Bauves.

(8) In the centre of the village, take the road on the right. It then becomes a path. Continue until you reach a path on the left.

(9) Turn onto this path. Be careful, as the path is not always very visible. It is quite damp, so watch your step as there are a few holes that are sometimes hidden. You will come to a road.

(10) Cross it and continue along the path until you reach a tarmac road.

(11) Follow it to the car park (S/E).

Thanks for the route – a lovely walk, as always, through the Vexin countryside.
I started with a short circular route in Montagny, heading to a small wood and back via the church. In Montjavoult, it’s well worth taking a short detour to see the church. I also added a circular route from there to Beaugrenier.

Please note that two-thirds of the way along section 4 to 5, you’ll be crossing a field 50 metres wide. The field covers the path, but it clearly continues on the other side. However, if crops are growing, crossing it might prove tricky (we had no problems at the end of August).

A very pleasant and scenic walk, best enjoyed in late summer, though it must be even better in spring.
Take care during hunting seasons, as the route passes through several areas lined with hunting hides.

We got a bit lost in Montjavoult.
To begin with, at point 7, we didn’t see any signposting towards the cemetery and we didn’t spot it. On the map, the route doesn’t go past the cemetery, which is several hundred metres away, requiring a detour.
I’d rephrase it as: “When you come to the house, turn right and continue up Rue de Bauves, which is on your right.”

At point 8: “In the village centre, take the unpaved lane on the right before reaching the church square. You can stop for a rest on a bench opposite the church. It then becomes a footpath. Continue until you reach a path branching off to the left. Please note that it is hidden and runs alongside a small wood or copse on the left.”

Route completed in cool, slightly windy weather, cloudy in the morning and clear in the afternoon
A very beautiful route that passes over the Vexin plateau. Not too difficult, the climb to MontJavoult is easy.
The route was not too muddy despite the amount of rain that had fallen in the area in the previous days.
I would do it again in the summer.
