Departure from the mandatory car park at the entrance to the village of Prapic.
(S/E) From the car park, walk back up towards the village along the road until you reach the church. From there, a sign indicates the start of the trails. Continue through the village until you reach a second small square with a sign on the left for the Tombeau du Poète.
(1) Turn left in this direction. The path branches off to the left and climbs alongside the stream. Ignore all other paths and stay on the main path.
(2) At a fork, turn right to climb up and arrive at the poet's tomb, a large rock at the foot of which is the tomb of Joseph Reymond.
(3) Retrace your steps to return to the village of Prapic.
(1) Once in the village, find the signposts and turn left towards the Saut du Laïre. Follow this beautiful path which crosses the stream and enters the Écrins park. A short climb brings you to an oratory.
(4) Take the path on the left towards Saut du Laïre. After a long flat section where you can often see marmots, a steep climb takes you to the chapel.
(5) After the chapel, a fork in the path indicates that you should take the left-hand path to reach the Saut du Laïre, but both paths lead there. Take the left-hand path, then after a final steep climb, you will arrive at the Saut du Laïre footbridge. Cross the bridge and continue to a fork below the chalets.
(6) Turn right towards Les Bassets. The trail climbs up, skirting the chalets on the left, then continues along a ledge above the Laïre, offering beautiful views.
(7) Once you reach the Les Bassets sign (2,070 m), the trail begins to descend, initially on grassy paths and then on steeper, rockier sections.
On the descent, at a sign marking the Parc des Écrins, you will see blue, white and red markings. Continue downhill on the same path marked with the same colours.
(8) When you reach the bottom of the valley, cross the Drac and follow the markings to the left onto a path that leads to the oratory you passed on the way up.
(4) Turn left and return to the village of Prapic (1) and then to the car park where you started (S/E).
This also allows for a little more peace and quiet, as the main trail is very busy.
