Park your vehicle in the car park at the edge of the first bend on the D104 going up to Étaules. Blue markings.
(S/E) Do not take the path at the back of the car park, but the one that starts from the road (barriers). Follow this gravel path, known as the "Route Forestière de Jouvence", for a few metres.
Immediately turn left onto the path that climbs uphill, turns left at a junction with another track and then follows a hollow and a series of hairpin bends to a clearing, marked "le Plain d'Avaux" on the map (steep climb).
(1) At the end of the path, turn right immediately. The route then follows the contour lines and is characterised by a series of paths and trails of varying widths (flat - gentle ascents and descents). The markings are visible but must be followed carefully.
Follow the path without paying attention to those that branch off to the right (downhill) or left (uphill).
From the top of the hill: take a wide left turn (375m) until you reach an intersection with a path on the left. Turn right (200m descent) and continue along the valley (the cliffs are on the right, more than 20m from the track).
Ignore a path on the left (uphill) and one on the right (downhill). Continue for about 600 metres before coming to a path on the left; ignore it. Turn right and continue for 250m. N.B. here you will find a path that descends to the right to the cliffs (viewpoint).
Resume the uphill route until you reach a large crossroads. You will then come across theGR®7, which descends to the right towards the Fontaine de Jouvence. Do not take it
(2). Please note: at this crossroads, you will see red and white markings and blue markings on a group of trees. Immediately after this grove, turn right onto the path that descends and runs alongside theGR®7at the top. Follow it for 400 metres (downhill, flat, slight incline). The path turns left, left and then right. Follow it for about 1 km, ignoring the other paths that climb to the left, until you reach a small path on the right. A sign on a tree indicates "Roche Tire-Barbe à 40m" (viewpoint).
This is the end of the outward hike.
(3) The return journey is therefore in reverse, in the opposite direction to return to the car park (S/E).
