Description of the walk

Free car park on Avenue Prince Albert 1er de Monaco.

(S/E) From the car park, head back to the D2564 road you arrived on, which runs through La Turbie. At the junction, turn right then immediately left towards the Gendarmerie. Caution: dangerous road crossing.

(1) Signpost 620 towards Col de Guerre; walk past the wash house; the path starts behind the gendarmerie. Follow theGR®®51B markings, which turn north-east and join a road.

(2) At this junction, turn right to reach the Col de Guerre and then the Route de Peille. Cross this D53 road. Signpost 548, towards Col du Mont GrosGR®51. Caution: bend; crossing the road is dangerous. Continue along the path and, 30 m after the twin electricity pylons, turn right.

(3) At the junction of the paths, turn right and continue along the path that starts between the two cairns. Reach Marker 547 at the end of the wooded area.

(4) Turn right onto the tarmac road called Laï Barraï, which is the access road to Mont Agel. Caution: bend; dangerous road crossing. After 200 m, leave the road on the left to reach the car park and viewpoint.

(5) Laï Barraï free flight area. Paragliding launch site. Take a break and admire the panoramic view encompassing Cap Martin, Monaco and La Turbie. Return via the same route to reach the car park on Avenue Prince Albert 1er de Monaco (S/E).

A lovely walk through the peaceful countryside and woodland. Stunning views over the village of La Turbie, the surrounding area and Monaco. We stopped for a bite to eat at the Lai Barrai paragliding site, where there were about ten paragliders that day.

Thanks, Leopal, for your advice. You’re right – it’s best to check the weather’s good before setting off on this little hike; the sea spray really spoils the view
Best wishes, Rando N.

A hike that matches the description, offering stunning views of La Turbie, Monaco, Antibes and the foothills of the Mercantour.
However, be sure to check the local weather forecast before setting off.
We set off from Nice for the first time in glorious sunshine, only to arrive in La Turbie in thick fog, with no chance of enjoying those beautiful views.
We had to cut the hike short (as the mist hadn’t cleared) and do it another time.
