Parking is available at Val de Cusance, opposite the town hall, on the edge of the D21 (tourist sign). Yellow and blue signposts.
(S/E) Pass in front of the town hall to reach the Source Bleue.
(1) Return to the departmental road and continue along the street opposite to visit the Green Spring.
(2) On your way back from the Source du Cusancin, turn right onto Chemin du Moulin and cross the Torrent des Alloz via the old stone bridge, then climb up the gravel path on the right.
Climb up to the chapel via the stony path on the left.
(3) Retrace your steps and climb up the wooded hillside via the path on the left. At the tarmac road, continue climbing to the right until you reach the plateau and turn left towards the Croix de Saint-Ermenfroi.
(4) Quickly head back into the woods via a path on the left. But be careful! Just under the trees, turn right into the pasture, squeezing through a gap in the fence. After passing through the undergrowth, you will return to the pasture. Pass through the undergrowth again to reach a small clearing and, at the other end, turn left into the woods towards the Croix de Saint-Ermenfroi.
(5) Go down to the left along the path opposite the old, beautifully engraved cross. At Cusance church, turn right towards the centre of the village.
(6) At the bus shelter, turn left onto the stony Chemin du Lavoir (towards Montivernage).
(6) Leave this road after the fish farm and climb the hill on the left. Halfway up the slope, you will find an old fountain hidden in the woods, which is unfortunately not maintained. Continue climbing this beautiful stony path until you reach the village.
(8) Turn left to cross Montivernage. Just before you leave the village, turn left onto Chemin Jean Billerey. You will pass a cross marking the spot where this member of the Resistance was executed by the Germans. When this road turns right, continue straight ahead along the grassy path that passes in front of a shed. The path turns left, entering the field via a chicane. Follow the edge on your right for about 100 metres and re-enter the woods via the path on the right.
(9) Leave the viewpoint on the left. At the farm track, turn left, entering a pine forest, and follow this well-stoned path to the departmental road, which you follow to the right for 200 metres.
(10) Turn left onto Chemin du Mont Noireau, which becomes completely gravel. When it begins a long straight climb, turn left onto the forest path (towards Mont Millot) until you reach the small departmental road 21.
(11) Go down this quiet little road on the left, keeping your eyes open: it is not very busy, but it is narrow. It doesn't look like much at first, but near the village, you will pass between the beautiful rocks of the torrent gorges. In the village, you will easily find the car park. (S/E)
The route includes ledges and unsecured viewpoints. The paths are rocky and slippery in places. Good footwear is essential and walking sticks are recommended.
