The Tour de la Nible starting from Plaisians

A very beautiful hike in the Drôme Provençale, partly on theGR®, and the rest on footpaths and forest tracks. The Tour de la Nible offers exceptional views of the Montagne de Banne.

Description of the walk

Pass through the village of Plaisians and head up the small tarmac road to the Col d’Aiguières. At the junction, turn right onto the Chemin de Comment and park in the large lay-by 100 metres further on to the right.

(S/E) Walk up to the Col d'Aiguières and turn right onto the small tarmac road marked in red and white, as it forms part of theGR® 9 and 91 routes. Reach the hamlet of Aiguières. Cross through it and, after the two circular roads, you will come to a path junction marked with theGR® symbol.

(1) Follow it to the left for a good while until you come out onto a wider forest track.

(2) Take this on the left. Look out for the Montagne de Banne on your right. Further on, you’ll reach the Font Combran spring and then the old sheepfold. Keep left on theGR® to reach the Col de Font Combran.

(3) Turn left to head up the ridge and reach a remarkable viewpoint.

(4) Enjoy the magnificent view of Mont Ventoux and its valleys from here. Return to the pass via the same route.

(3) Head straight ahead and follow the ridge line uphill. Enter a wood to reach the highest point of La Nible. Begin a short descent and you will come to a crossroads of paths.

(5) Here, leave theGR® which descends to the right towards Buis-les-Baronnies, and take the small path to the left. Descend through the woods to emerge at the Fontaine des Marins.

(6) Turn right, and after about a hundred metres, rejoin the tarmac road. Continue down the slope to reach the hamlet of Les Girards.

(7) Leave the road and take theGR® on the left. Follow it uphill until you find a path on the right. Leave theGR® again to head down to the right and, at the bottom of the descent, rejoin theGRP® of the Tour des Baronnies.

(8) Take it to the left and climb back up to the Col d’Aiguières to return to the car park where you started (S/E).

We followed your trail without any problems. The round trip to the viewpoint is well worth it, especially if the summit of Mont Ventoux is clear.
It is a very windy area, so it felt quite cold from the start of the hike until point 5.
After that, it's sunny and you have Mont Ventoux for company.
Very stony ground between points 7 and 8; it is possible to avoid it.
A lovely hike with no technical difficulties.

We completed this hike on Thursday 7 December in five hours, including breaks. After some thought, we stuck to the suggested anti-clockwise route. The route description could do with more waypoints, but there was no difficulty in following the route. The start of the first path on the left to leave the road is clearly visible with the kilometre marker. The path to the forest track at the Col de Cambran is unmarked but well-defined.
A superbly snow-covered route on the north-facing slope with panoramic views throughout.
We avoided the road in Plaisians in favour of the paths and tracks available from the Fontaine des Marins to the Col road, without any problems.
Thanks to the author for their suggestions. We highly recommend this hike.

It stung a bit at times, but we were in the sun and there was no strong wind.
On the other hand, we saw lots of hailstones on the ground, so there must have been a proper storm the night before!

Hello,

We did the route yesterday; there were a few difficulties between points 7 and 8 – we couldn’t quite follow the trail and I couldn’t work out where I’d gone wrong, but we made it through safely in the end!

The route is lovely, with superb views of Mont Ventoux, the Montagne de Banne and the Rocher Saint Julien.

A very quiet walk, with a few steep sections but nothing too challenging.

A lovely, varied route in the sunshine – thanks to the author.

A lovely hike, with a few technical sections on the descent, but still manageable even for an ‘old-timer’ like me at 64. Above all, make sure you follow the new, modified route (the old GR is no longer passable). Personally, I did the route in the opposite direction and have no regrets.
I highly recommend it.

Well done for trusting me with this first section of the trail, which is still a pleasant walk

Hello, we had requested the route description and map for hike 17248705: The Tour de la Nible starting from Plaisians. However, the suggested start point at the Col d’Aiguières is no longer accessible. The route of the GR9 and GR91 has been altered. At point 1, two St Andrew’s crosses are blocking the way.We did take it, but this path is indeed overgrown. At point 2, all the GR markings have been worn away, even on the signposts. We carried on anyway, following the route shown on the map, and found the route that is now the standard one. This starts from the hamlet of Les Girards. A lovely walk nonetheless!!
