Departure from the car park in the centre of Sigolsheim behind the "Les Hirondelles" school
(S/E) With your back to the car park, walk along the left-hand side of the Route des Vins to reach thefirst street on the left (Rue de la1re Armée). Follow this street until you reach thefirst street on the right, Rue du Château.
(1) Take Rue du Château, keep to the right, cross Rue des Vignes and continue to the end of this street. Turn left and follow Rue du Faubourg des Pierres, then Rue de Bennwihr to Chapelle Sainte-Anne.
(2) Turn left in front of the chapel, then follow thefirst path on the left, Plattenweg, to Rue de l'Oberhof. Go up Rue de l'Oberhof on the right towards the necropolis and memorial. When you reach the crossroads before the car park, continue a few metres to find the American Memorial on the right.
(3) Leave the memorial on your right and continue to the crossroads at the end of the car park. Turn left towards the Sigolsheim National Necropolis. After your visit, take the path between the vineyards, which leads to a crossroads after about 600 metres.
(4) Turn left, then right into the vineyards, then left again with shrubs on your right. At the next crossroads, turn right and continue straight ahead. Continue along the edge of the forest (on your right). When the path leaves the forest, heading south, it reaches a T-junction with a wide path.
(5) Follow this main path along the hillside heading due west. You will return to the edge of the trees for a short while. Continue west until you reach a T-junction with a tarmac road.
(6) Turn right, then left just before a pond marked with a green sign. Keep left between the vineyards and rejoin the tarmac road. You will come to a junction with a wayside cross.
(7) At the calvary, turn right and go uphill. Follow the main path along the hillside through the vineyards to Kaysersberg Castle, following the Chevalet Vert signs. After a few short stretches through the forest or along the edge, the path heads west straight towards the castle, which is visible in the distance.
(8) Visit the castle, then descend via the small path towards Rue des Forgerons. Follow it to the right, then turn left and cross the bridge over the Weiss.
(9) After the bridge, turn left onto Grand Rue des Prés, then Rue de l'Oberhof until you reach Rue du Général de Gaulle.
(10) Turn left, cross over and visit Kaysersberg via the main street, Rue du Général de Gaulle. Pass in front of the town hall and arrive at the D28 at the junction with Rue du Château.
(11) Turn left, head up towards the vineyards and follow the cycle path on the right towards Kientzheim. At the crossroads, continue straight ahead between the vineyards and at the next intersection, turn right downhill to rejoin the Wine Route (D26).
(12) Turn left and cross Kientzheim via Grand Rue, then turn left after the medieval gate (cycle path), following the ramparts. At the end, when you reach the vineyards on your right, take the cycle path towards Sigolsheim.
(13) Cross Sigolsheim via Rue du Vogelgarten and Rue Saint-Jacques, then turn right onto Rue de la1re Armée to return to the crossroads you passed on the way there.
(1) Take the outward route in the opposite direction to return to the car park where you started (S/E).
