Park in the small car park on the golf course road at the upper gate of Ammerschwihr.
(S/E) Start the walk on the other side of the road via the path (Anneau Rouge) that passes to the left of the Saint-Wendelin Chapel. Follow this path, which climbs through the vineyards and then enters the forest until you reach a fork.
(1) The path (Anneau Rouge) continues on the right, climbing quite steeply through the forest to the Croix de Meywihr, where you will also see a memorial to the soldiers who fell here during the Second World War.
(2) Continue along the path, which crosses several other paths, until you reach a junction with a larger path.
(3) Turn right to follow the path (Disque Bleu), which is also the Chemin des Châteaux. Follow it until you reach a fork.
(4) Take the path on the left, which climbs quite steeply in places and ends with a few hairpin bends, taking you to the Galtz and the statue of Christ. You can climb up into the base of the statue to a platform offering beautiful views of the plain and Colmar in the distance.
(5) From Galtz, take the wide path downhill (Yellow Ring) and then, via a few hairpin bends on the right, to a clearing at the crossroads of several paths where there is a wooden hut.
(6) Take the wide path on the left (Yellow Ring - Blue Triangle). On your left, you will pass several beautiful residences that have been converted into lodges, giving you a glimpse into the history of this place. Continue to the centre of Trois Épis and the junction with the departmental road, Rue Thierry Schoere.
(7) Turn left and follow this road for 200 metres until you reach the Résidence Alexain on your left.
(8) Cross the residence car park and, at the end, take the small path that descends in front of you. (Anneau Vert) to the Rocher du Paffenrod, from where you can enjoy a beautiful panorama.
(9) Then go back up the path on your left, and a few dozen metres further on, take a wide path that descends to the right (Blue Triangle) until you reach a right-hand bend.
(10) Continue along the small path in front of you (Blue Triangle), which will take you downhill to Katzenthal.
(11) Walk down Rue des Trois Épis (you can see Wineck Castle on your left) and then turn left onto Rue de l'Église. Walk past the church and turn right onto Rue d'Ammerschwihr.
(12) After a few dozen metres, turn left into a small passage between the houses (yellow triangle). Climb a few steps and continue right onto the vineyard path, which joins a small road. Follow this road to the left until you reach an intersection where you will find a small information panel about the Kaeffekopf grand cru and its localities.
(13) Go up the path on your left and, at the top of the hill, turn right towards Ammerschwir (yellow triangle), pass the remains of the hamlet of Meywhir, enter the village and follow the yellow triangle to the junction with Rue du Tir (golf road).
(14) Follow it to the left, climbing up to the car park (S/E).
The description should end with a reference to the finishing point: (E) for a linear walk, (S/E) for a circular walk.

Hike completed under beautiful sunshine. Please note that when we arrived at 9:15 a.m., the car park was already almost full, and on our return in the afternoon, it was very hot. In summer, it would be wise to set off much earlier. The climb up to the Christ statue is a little steep but very pleasant. Unfortunately, however, since 2 May, it has been undergoing repairs for a period of six weeks and is therefore inaccessible. From Galtz to the clearing where the path winds down, we stayed on the ridge trail, and we were glad we did, because we discovered an old iron kiosk and a blockhouse. The 3 Épis station is already quite busy and still as pleasant as ever. I had planned an extra circular to the Meierhof Vosges Club chalet for lunch and a drink or dessert, but it was closed. We were still able to have a picnic on the outdoor tables. We resumed the normal route by returning via the Louise trail, which was very nice. The return trip through the vineyards, even though it was on tarmac, was also very pleasant. However, as I said at the beginning, the sun was beating down and the dogs were struggling a bit.
