Château de Kaysersberg walks

Hike through the pretty town of Kaysersberg, then into the Alsatian vineyards. The climb continues through a forest with different species of trees. The return route follows a stream that winds its way between the rocks.

This largely shaded hike will take you to hidden corners of Kaysersberg, including its medieval castle and old town.

A pleasant walk through the vineyards, passing through two picturesque villages, and arriving in Kayserberg. Although long, the walk presents no difficulties.

Kaysersberg is a village well known for its architecture and historic centre. It is also possible to combine a visit to this village with a route that takes in Aspach, the Ermitage Saint-Joseph, the Roche du Tétras, the Chêne de la Chapelle and the Rocher des Corbeaux. Most of the route runs through woodland. The main viewpoints are largely concentrated towards the end of the walk, but the route offers several points of interest to liven up the day.

Kaysersberg is considered one of the most beautiful villages in France. Situated at the entrance to the Weiss Valley, this village retains streets and alleyways with authentic charm, featuring many very old and colourful half-timbered houses. The town also has a history closely linked to the Middle Ages, as evidenced by its castle and the remains of fortifications such as the Tour de la Porte Haute. A major tourist destination, this village attracts several thousand visitors every year. This tour aims to introduce you to the historic centre of Kaysersberg, taking in other points of interest such as Kaysersberg Church, the fortified bridge, the Maison Loewert and the Albert Schweitzer Centre.

Viticulture is an integral part of the Alsatian landscape. There is even a route named after it. This route is the third stage of the vineyard trail and links Turckheim to Ribeauvillé. There are numerous vantage points, indeed they are almost everywhere outside the villages. The villages themselves are very traditional, with pretty half-timbered houses, and possess an undeniable charm. The region’s heritage is equally well represented.
