The start is at the top of Chemin du Garlaban, where there are a few parking spaces available on the side of the road.
(S/E) Take the uphill track on the left, which is closed by a barrier, and continue straight ahead to the Col de Cante Perdrix.
(1) Take the track descending due east, opposite the pass.
(2) 600 m further on, in a left-hand bend, take a path ascending to the right. After about 250 m, you will rejoin the track you left earlier and continue to the right.
(3) Take the path on the right that climbs straight towards Taoumé, heading south. This is the start of the climb up the famous hill.
(4) Continue straight ahead, following the yellow markings, which will lead you to the Grotte du Grosibou or Grotte Marcel Pagnol. Some may try to enter, but those who are overweight should refrain!
(5) Just before the cave, a small marked climb takes you up to the Pic du Taoumé, where you can enjoy a superb 360° view: the Étoile, Sainte-Victoire, snow-capped mountains to the right in winter, the Garlaban and, of course, Marseille and its harbour. You then descend via a clearly visible path on the side, facing west.
(4) Don't miss the path on the left that will take you to the Pounche des Escaouprés some 500 m further on. Behind a small grove, you will see the yellow-marked trailhead that takes you up and around this pleasant plateau, then continue straight ahead on the path.
(7) At this junction, take the track to the right, which will take you back to the Col de Cante-Perdrix.
(1) We descend the track on the left to return to the car park (S/E).
