The Tacot de Toucy

The car park for the start and finish is located in the centre of Toucy, at Place des Frères Genêt.

(S/E) Head towards Rue Émile Genet, cross it and take the alleyway to the right of the furniture shop (large windows). Cross Rue Paul Bert and continue uphill along Rue de la Poterne. At the top, turn right into Rue Lucile Cormier to reach Boulevard Pierre Larousse.

(1) Turn left, first crossing Rue Paul Defrance, then turning right. Keep to the left-hand pavement until you reach Rue de la Vau Laurier. Take this road; at the bend at the top, leave the tarmac and head slightly to the right. Stay on the main path, ignoring a track branching off to the left.

(2) When you reach the road, go straight on, then turn left; the street ends in a path. At the three-way junction, turn right and, at the next three-way junction, turn left.

(3) Keep to the left-hand verge for a few metres and turn sharply left.

(4) In Vérrigny, turn left four times in a row to rejoin a track. Pass very close to the Fontaine des Vergers. You’ll come out onto a tarmac road.

(5) Cross it and carry on straight ahead. Follow Avenue de Kusel until you reach a junction.

(6) Turn right.

(7) At the roundabout, leave the avenue and take Rue des Montagnes. Walk all the way down this street, passing the secondary school on your left and the library on your right. You’ll reach Rue Paul Defrance.

(8) Cross Rue Paul Defrance and head down Rue du Marché, then Rue Philippe Verger. When you reach Place Pierre Larousse, keep the statue on your right, pass Rue Paul Bert and take Rue Colette. At the end of Rue Colette, cross Rue Émile Genet to return to the starting point (S/E).

The car park at Place des Frères Genêt is spacious; however, there is another car park behind the Post Office (same access road) which offers parking spaces. Please note that on Saturday mornings, after 9.00 am, spaces are in short supply as the market gets busy.
This walk can be enjoyed in all seasons.
At (5), 200 metres away, stands the Pyramide du Loup.
This signposted route, which complies with the signposting guidelines of the Puisaye-Forterre Community of Communes, is marked with the number 77 on yellow-backed signs.
The route was signposted by the ‘À chacun son chemin en Puisaye-Forterre’ association in May 2021.
