Park in the tennis court car park opposite the Château de Sagey in Pierrefontaine-les-Varans.
S/E: Follow the sign for "circular loop no. 12 - ridge trail", marked in yellow and blue. Follow the D20 road for about 50 metres until you reach the crossroads.
(1) Turn left onto Rue du Belmont and follow it to the next intersection.
Continue straight ahead, following the circular Boucle des Crêtes.
(2) At the next three-way junction, turn left, still following the yellow-blue markings. You will reach a three-way junction at the edge of the woods.
(3) Turn right to climb through the undergrowth towards the Bémont viewpoint.
When you reach the clearing, climb straight up towards a ruined farmhouse that can be seen at the back of the clearing at the end of the old Tartot ski lift.
(4) Go around the farm on the right and head back into the woods. At the next intersection, take the path leading to the Bémont viewpoint and its educational panel.
(5) Retrace your steps and take the path on the left, passing a farm on your left. Continue downhill; at the fork in the hairpin bend, keep to the path on the left. Take another hairpin bend and you will come to a fork in a wide track.
(6) Take it on the right and continue to the FFI memorial.
(7) Keep left on this track lined with wood carvings and continue downhill until you reach the junction at a hairpin bend.
(8) Leave the road and climb up to the left for a few metres, then take the yellow-blue marked path which descends again. Join a tarmac road.
(9) Follow it to the right until you reach Rue du Belmont to complete the circular route at the intersection you passed earlier.
(2) Retrace your steps back to the initial crossroads.
(1) Turn left onto the Départementale 20, descending towards the gorges until you reach the waterfall and the Ruisseau du Val.
(10) Return to the previous crossroads.
(1) Turn left to reach the tennis court car park (S/E).
