Park near the rubbish bins opposite the village of Cheyssac.
(S/E) Leave the car park and take the D103 on the left, turning right at the first intersection onto the school road. Cross the level crossing following the Chemin du Soulou, crossing the stream of the same name.
(1) Continue left on the pretty road, lined with dry stone walls, in the Soulou valley heading north towards the hamlet of Rochemont for about 500 metres. The road then enters the forest; continue for about 500 metres.
(2) At the edge of a clearing, ignore the road and take the path that branches off slightly to the left (at a three-way junction) and turns into the forest. Continue along the path for about 800 m. Stay on this path, which veers to the left. Do not take the path that runs along the trail on the right beyond the barbed wire fence, until you reach the crossroads opposite a suspension bridge.
(3) Take the path that branches off at a 90° angle to the right of the arrival path (towards the north-east) and overlooks the river for about 500 m. An old stone cross stands on the rocks in the middle of the river, about a hundred metres downstream from the Saut de la Saule.
(4) 120 metres upstream (towards the east-northeast) is the old factory dam, which is partly destroyed but still holds back the waters of the Rhue, creating a favourable site for trout and crayfish fishing. Please note that there are no guardrails in this section and the rocks are slippery, but you can dip your feet in the water (or even swim, if you're feeling brave, at your own risk given the rapids downstream!
(5) From the dam, turn back downstream, passing by the Saut de la Saule.
(3). Continue along the path towards the south-west until you reach the railway bridge. For your information, you can cross the railway bridge to reach the other bank of the Rhue.
Go under the bridge. The path then turns left and runs alongside the Ruisseau le Soulou stream on the right and the old Bort-les-Orgues / Riom-es-Montagnes / Neussargues railway line on the left. The line has been disused for 20-30 years (however, occasional traffic may occur, but at low speed).
(6) 700 m from the bridge, cross the track at the old level crossing and continue along the path, which turns right after 150 m and joins the fork in the outward route.
(1) Take the route in reverse to return to the starting point (S/E).

Part of the route (the right-hand branch) crosses a hunting area, so check before setting off, or take the return trip via the left-hand path
