Departure from the "Indian Forest" car park - CREPS d'Aix (right at the motorway exit).
(S/E) Head south and follow Chemin de la Plaine des Dés, leaving the CREPS facilities on your left.
(1) Go under the railway bridge and immediately turn right.
(2) Leave the road and turn left, heading south-southeast into the Vallon du Coq, then south.
(3) The track turns right; you can cut across the bend.
(4) At the barrier, turn left. Take a track on the left and then leave it on the right.
(5) You will come to the yellow trail and follow it to the left for 300 metres.
(6) After the cistern, turn right to cut the corner.
(7) Return to the yellow trail and follow it to the right until you reach the departmental road.
(8) Cross the district road. Be careful, as the railway tunnel is very close and visibility of vehicles is limited.
(9) Keep to the left to cut across the bend.
(10) Very steep climb on the right. You'll have to push a little! Be careful, it's just as steep going down!
(11) Return to the road and follow it to the left.
(12) Leave the road and turn left. Go through a gate and follow a track to the south-east.
(13) Keep to the right to cut the bend. Return to the track and follow it to the right. At the cistern, go straight ahead.
(14) Cut across the track.
(15) Single track uphill. It's passable.
(16) Turn left onto the track. At the fork, take the right-hand branch. At the next fork, do the same.
(17) Turn right for a very steep climb. Then head north-east and then north.
(18) Steep descent, then right onto the track for 80 metres.
(19) Single track on the left.
(20) At the track, turn right: it climbs.
(21) Turn left for a nice descent. Back on the track, turn right.
(22) Pass under the railway line. Turn right along the stream.
(23) King René's hunting lodge (very pretty spot). Follow the Luynes then turn left to rejoin the road.
(24) Fork. Turn right. Cross the departmental road.
(25) Turn left then make a hairpin turn. Then turn right at a right angle and pass under a power line. At the cistern, veer right. At the fork above Roman, turn left (north).
(26) Take the path on the left that runs parallel to the road. Cross the road and set off on a technical but manageable single track. At the road, turn left.
(27) A single track branches off to the left, allowing you to avoid the road. It's nice, but be careful, as there are gutters to cross on foot. Return to the car park (S/E).
Let's be honest, this ride is no longer easily achievable by bike from point 7 onwards.
