The Parc des Coteaux d'Avron and the Lamarque Trail

This short urban hike is divided into three stages. First in Villemomble, after stopping at the foot of the church's tall bell tower, you cross a residential area and climb up to the Plateau d'Avron. You then descend, zigzagging through the Parc des Coteaux d'Avron. The route ends on a footpath that runs almost straight through Neuilly-Plaisance.

This walk is part of a multi-day hike: La Petite Couronne de Paris

Then turn right onto thefirst street, Avenue des Roses. Go straight ahead, cross Avenue Vauban and pass between the buildings of the Saint-Exupéry school complex.

Follow a gravel path, Allée des Fresnes, which quickly splits into two: take the right-hand path, which is reserved for pedestrians (the left-hand path is reserved for cyclists). Wind your way past the picnic tables and you will soon find the cycle path on the left.

The two paths are now side by side, separated only by a wooden barrier. They make a sharp turn to the right and descend gently. Stay on the main path and, at the Croisée de la Treille, turn right.

Worth a visit

From Le Raincy-Villemomble-Montfermeil station (S) to Parc des Coteaux d'Avron (4):
- Saint-Louis Church (early 20th century), with a 56-metre-high bell tower topped by 28 concrete statues.
- Residential areas.

Parc des Coteaux d'Avron, from (4) to (7):
- The park is located on the former site of gypsum quarries that have been partially filled in and reforested. It was opened on 31 December 1999 and at the entrance (4) you can see the footprints of the schoolchildren who took part in the inauguration at the time.
- The Avron plateau was an important site in the defence of Paris during the siege of 1870-1871. A memorial stone at the edge of the park commemorates this: at the entrance (4), continue for about 100 metres along the tarmac path.

Voie Lamarque, from (7) to (E):
A completely pedestrianised road in a narrow green corridor.

Nature is coming to life and the route is very pleasant. A bit muddy in one part of the park, but it had rained the day before.

A nice little route. First urban, with the beautiful houses of Villemomble and the church with its large bell tower, then a long climb up to Neuilly Plaisance. We start the descent with the Coteaux d'Avron park and then the Lamarque path, a small green corridor that takes us to the station.
For once, it didn't rain.

A very pleasant route as it is easily accessible by RER and largely on dedicated lanes.

A pleasant and varied route: residential neighbourhoods leading to the park, then the park itself, which, while not magnificent due to its relatively recent creation (it was built between 1990 and 2013 on the site of former gypsum quarries), has the merit of existing, and finally a green corridor in an urban environment.
The imposing bell tower of Villemomble Church is hidden due to construction work, which is a shame as we were unable to appreciate its size...
Thank you for the description of this walk.

Thank you for this very varied walk, discovering beautiful houses in Villemonble, then crossing the Parc des Coteaux d'Avron, which was very well described, and ending with a historical note on the Lamarque Way.
Congratulations to the author of this proposal!

A wonderful discovery of Villemomble and its beautiful pavilions, the Parc des Coteaux d'Avron, which was very quiet on this Halloween Monday, and the Voie Lamarque, which I didn't know about, even though I've lived on the other side of the Marne for over 50 years!

This hike allowed us to discover a park. It felt like we were in the middle of a forest, even though it's located in an urban area. We didn't finish the hike because we had to make our way back!

The three sections announced for this walk are indeed quite distinct:
- We start by walking through small streets lined with houses with neat gardens, followed by a long, long climb along poorly maintained roads to Neuilly-Plaisance.
- Then we quickly arrive at the magnificent Parc des Coteaux d'Avron, where we walk along a most pleasant route through quiet wooded paths.
- The walk ends with the pleasant Voie Lamarque, a green corridor in Neuilly that winds for just over a kilometre to the Neuilly-Plaisance RER station.
A very beautiful hike, thank you!
