The two parks on the Plateau d’Avron

A walk through the Parc des Coteaux d’Avron in Neuilly-Plaisance and the Parc Nature du Plateau d’Avron in Rosny-sous-Bois. This route allows you to explore both parks, with their unspoilt areas as well as certain facilities (children’s play areas, views over the Marne Valley, an observation tower and an educational farm, etc.).

This walk is subject to the opening hours of the two parks, which vary between summer and winter.

Description of the walk

Car park in front of the so-called main entrance to the Parc des Coteaux, at No. 9 Rue Sir Alexander Flemming. Accessible via bus 114, ‘Marcel Dassault’ stop.

(S/E) Enter the Parc des Coteaux d’Avron via the main ‘Fleming’ entrance. Head uphill, staying on the main path (with the orchard on your right), and take a sharp left-hand bend.

(1) Ignore a path branching off to the right and continue straight on along theGR®14A(red and white markings). At the junction, carry on straight ahead. The path curves to the right and climbs up the “cirque”. At a Fork in the road, turn right and you’ll reach a playground.

(2) Then turn left and immediately ignore a path branching off to the right. At the T-junction, turn left towards the gypsum crossroads.

(3) Turn right and pass under a high-voltage power line whilst turning left. Head downhill along theGR® and finish with a few steps to exit the park.

(4) Then turn right twice in succession to join the Chemin des Cahouettes. Further on, turn left onto the path and reach Avenue Georges Clemenceau. Follow this avenue to the right and, shortly afterwards, turn right onto a small one-way road. After a wide left-hand bend, join Avenue des Fauvettes at a set of traffic lights.

(5) Cross the avenue and follow it to the right, keeping to its left-hand side. Take the first left onto the Sentier des Pommiers. At the end, go through a wooden gate and turn right onto a narrow path flanked by two wire fences. Continue along this path for some time.

(6) You’ll come out onto a road; follow it to the right. After about fifty metres, turn right into the Parc Nature. Turn left immediately. Pass a playground on your right and go under the high-voltage power line again.

(7) At the junction, turn right towards the observation tower. Walk past it and continue along the single path. Further on, go round a pond on the right and take a wooden walkway. Continue along the path until you reach the exit onto Rue Jules Guesde.

(8) In future, phase 2 of the park will no doubt allow the route to be extended from the observation tower towards Rue de Rosny, avoiding the need to walk along the pavement.
For now, on leaving the park, turn right onto Rue Jules Guesde and walk along the right-hand pavement. Stay on this street and walk alongside the park. At the junction, turn right onto Avenue de l’Ouest. Then turn left onto Avenue de Rosny.

(9) Cross Avenue des Fauvettes (you can shorten the walk here by taking bus 114) and continue along Avenue de Rosny. At the next junction, turn right onto Avenue du Midi. Turn left onto the avenue and walk alongside Parc des Coteaux. Turn left onto Avenue de l’Est and continue until you reach a junction. Join Avenue de Rosny again, follow it to the right and turn immediately right onto Avenue Cornélis. Cross Avenue des Demoiselles on the left-hand side, then turn left to quickly reach the entrance to Parc des Coteaux d’Avron.

(10) Enter the park on the right and, at the junction that appears immediately, go straight on. Head right along a flat path on the right-hand side of the meadow (do not take the path going downhill) until you reach the edge of the embankment, where there is a view and where you can no longer go straight on. Continue along the edge of the embankment for 100 metres without turning left, until you find a small path on the right, marked in blue, which descends via 80 steps. Go down the steps and then continue straight on until you rejoin the path you took on the way there.

(1) Turn left and, following the path in the opposite direction to the way there, head back to the main ‘Fleming’ entrance (S/E).

This route takes us through two parks, separated by a short walk through a quiet residential area.
Between points 5 and 6, the path can be difficult (very narrow, and in summer overgrown with brambles and foliage).

a pleasant hike exploring these two parks. Following the comments, we parked at point 10: Chemin des Pelouses d'Avron, where there is a car park.

Hello
I can confirm that at the start of the walk, the only car park is reserved as a reception area for travellers, so you will need to park wherever possible on the streets in the business park.

Sorry you didn’t enjoy it.
The starting point is convenient, as there’s a car park and the bus stop for the 114, and the area reserved for caravanners is indeed right nearby. As for the second park closing at 11 am, that’s completely out of the ordinary.

Very disappointed with this walk, which should no longer be listed as it is on the Visorando website
The route starts in the middle of an industrial estate, with the car park turned into a drop-off point for travellers. It’s therefore impossible to park there, even though there are plenty of other, better-organised entrances to the park. After the first section, you often find yourself in the middle of uninteresting urban areas. Between points 5 and 6, the path is muddy and ends at illegal rubbish dumps. To top it all off, at point 6, it was impossible to enter the park because the gate was padlocked (at 11 am!), so we were forced to turn back. This is the first time in many years that we’ve been disappointed by a walk suggested by Visorando.
