Park in the car park at Place de l’Église in Beyssenac.

(S/E) Leave Place de l’Église on the left, taking Rue des Acacias towards the D107 and Payzac.

(1) Before the junction with the D7, take the first road on the left and, at the next crossroads, turn right towards Pissac.

(2) At the crossroads, turn right then immediately left towards Bellevue. At the junction, continue straight on along the track and turn right until you reach the end of the track, where you’ll come to the D7 junction.

(3) Cross the junction and head up towards the Borne de Pissac, following the path through the woods.

(4) Turn left after the woods. Walk along the edge of the meadow and head down the path towards the woods.

(5) After the steeply sloping meadow, at the junction, head down the path on the left towards the Moulin de la Papeterie (Resistance Memorial).

(6) Turn round and head back up the path.

(5) Leave the previous path on your right and turn left into the woods, heading downhill. Cross the small bridge and head back up towards the Grand Bois. At the track, turn right, walk past the farm and continue straight on until you reach the road.

(7) Take the road on the right towards Germignac.

(8) In the village, after the farm, turn right until you reach the oval-shaped barn and turn left at the crossroads. Turn left at the next crossroads and follow the road to the D7. Cross over.

(1) Follow the path opposite in the opposite direction to reach the Place de l’Église in Beyssenac (S/E).

The church at Beyssenac is dedicated to Saint Médard. It is a Romanesque building, with the west entrance and the nave likely dating from the 14th century. Médard was Bishop of Noyon in the 6th century, and is credited with all manner of miracles. It was he who consecrated Queen Radegonde to God when, as Queen of the Franks, she decided to take the veil.
In the past, Beyssenac was home to a commandery of the Order of Malta, which had a chapel of devotion containing an enamelled copper reliquary. The Order of Malta was the first religious and military order to emerge from the Crusades. Founded in the mid-11th century, it welcomed sick and needy pilgrims into its hospices.
