(S/E) The trail starts from the Papeterie de Vaux car park. Follow the map as the signposting no longer seems to be reliable (comment made in October 2018, I will be doing the walk again to check).
(1) Head to Papeterie de Vaux, a former refining forge. After your visit, turn left and head towards Vaux.
(2) When you reach the small hamlet of Vaux, look for the two oval barns, unusual buildings that you can visit, as the municipality of Payzac has become their owner.
Continue towards Vaulatour. The yellow-marked trail turns right after passing Domaine Vaulatour; follow it.
(3) Follow the yellow markings on the right, walk along the apple orchard and join the marked path. Follow the path to the right, go around the houses and you will come to a larger path. Follow it to the left until you reach the D7.
(4) Turn left and walk along the D7 road for 300 metres (take care), then turn right towards Villouviers. Leave the road on your left and continue towards Le Mas and Pont Laveyrat, a magnificent 13th-century Romanesque bridge.
(5) Do not cross the bridge, but take the gravel road on the right towards Moulin de la Papeterie.
(6) Take the Moulin de la Papeterie botanical trail, with around 30 trees and shrubs identified along a shaded path. The trail is marked in yellow. Follow it for about 700 metres, then turn right onto the D7. Cross the road and, after 600 metres of downhill road, look for a trail in the undergrowth on the right, marked by a yellow directional sign.
(7) Take this path to a small road. Turn left towards Le Chatain, cross the hamlet heading south to Moulin Chatain. Continue along the road until you reach the D80 and turn right to the car park at the Vaux paper mill (S/E).
End of the hike.
