From the motorway or Aix-les-Bains, climb to Mouxy then Trévignin and follow the Route du Revard. After Véniper and the Platet hairpin bend, at an altitude of 825 m, take the small tarmac forest road of La Crémaillère, which turns right. Climb to its terminus (wood storage area).
(S/E) Take the Crémaillère path (marked GR®96) downhill (south-west) for 500 m, until you reach the junction with a yellow-marked trail (altitude 804).
(1) Turn left (south-east) to climb straight up the marked path, which becomes a trail, sloping to the left and then to the right depending on the terrain, but always very steep until you reach the foot of the cliff.
After a short traverse to the right, the Pas du Golet de la Pierre begins, with a series of ledges and small chimneys that are easy to climb out of the forest.
(2) Halfway up the slope, a viewpoint on the left is worth a stop. Then the trail leads to the edge of the Revard plateau, on the outskirts of the circular of Bellevue.
(3) Turn right to follow the GRP® du Massif des Bauges, which climbs up to Mont Revard, and take a tour of the tourist facilities: viewpoints, transparent orientation table, etc.
(4) Return to the GRP® to descend to the Golet de la Pierre.
(3) Go around to the left, taking the Bellevue circular, and descend to the left to take the "poets' path", illustrated with poems, which leads to the Chemin de la Crémaillère on the East Angle circular.
(5) Climb up the path opposite, leading to the East Angle Tower, via the arrival point of the Ébats chairlift.
(6) Return via the same path to the Chemin de la Crémaillère.
(5) Descend north on this path, which is the platform of the old rack railway line climbing from Aix-les-Bains to Le Revard.
The descent is relatively stony (old ballast) but very even. It allows you to see the various engineering structures that have been built: retaining walls, overpasses, etc., until you reach the Pré Farnier Tunnel, which curves to change direction.
(7) The tunnel is normally passable (bring a torch as it is 115 m long), but it is considered dangerous (risk of rockfall), which is why a marked detour through the forest has been created, leading back to the rack railway downstream of the tunnel.
The steady descent continues to the old Pré Japert station.
(8) Pass through a second, shorter tunnel.
(9) Finally, finish at the five-arch Fontanettes Viaduct, which can be bypassed on the left to be seen from below before arrival (S/E).
