Description of the walk

Start at the stadium car park on Rue du Stade.

Blue markings throughout the route

(S/E) Take the path heading north, leaving the stadium behind you, to descend to the Ruisseau d'Abriard. Cross it via the footbridge and climb up to the Pigerie farm. Continue to the D146.

(1) Cross the road and, after 600 m, reach the Pointreau farm, which you will leave behind as you continue following the blue markings whilst descending towards the Èvre.

(2) When you reach the banks of the Èvre, admire the Moulin de Bralles opposite, then turn right and follow the Èvre for about 400 m.

(3) Take the footbridge over the Abriard to climb back up the hillside (staying on the blue markings) to the tarmac road 600 m further on.

(4) Turn left onto it and head towards the Moulin de Guicholet.

(5) Take a break and admire the view from the footbridge, which is also a section of the Montrevault route marked in yellow.
Turn back to the previous junction.

(4) Continue straight ahead to La Tournerie, leave it on your left and carry on to the crossroads 200 m further on.

(6) Turn left, staying on the road, and head down to La Chevrie, which you walk alongside. Continue for 300 m and turn left towards Bréau for 100 m until you reach the first path on the right (marked in blue).

(7) Continue along this path to the Croix des Martyrs.

(8) Carry on straight ahead to the Menhir de Bréau, 600 m away (the ‘turning stone’). A photo is a must...
(9) Turn back towards the Croix des Martyrs, where you can stop to admire the River Èvre below.

(8) Continue left along the path running alongside the Èvre and head for the Grotte de la Gabardière, 500 m away.

(10) Head back up the road and, at the junction, take the blue-marked path opposite for 300 m. Cross the housing estate via Allée des Érables on your left, then take the first right onto Allée des Chênes, until you reach Rue des Tisserands on your left, then turn right onto Rue du Stade after 100 m, arriving at the stadium car park (S/E).

24/09/2025 reconnaissance of the route to be taken by a group on 3/10/2025
The trails on the route are very well maintained
One major drawback is that the blue markings are only present on 1/3 of the route at the start, hence the need for a reliable description

A lovely walk with beautiful views and points of interest (you’ll need to walk a few hundred metres further to see some of them, so allow for a total of 10 km).
Quite a bit of elevation gain!
A few sections on the road, but in very quiet areas.

A lovely walk with a very varied landscape.
Almost entirely shaded throughout.
Very little tarmac and extremely peaceful.
A hike with no major difficulties but plenty of steep sections; not suitable for families and reserved for experienced walkers.
At kilometre 4, the detour to Guicholet and back is optional.

The start of the walk is poorly marked. There are blue markings in all directions, making it impossible to follow the route. Best regards

We went on a lovely walk today, with beautiful plateaus and paths along the River Evre.
With lovely sights to discover (the cave, the menhir).
Allow at least 10 km in total.
Unfortunately, there was a match at the stadium and no spaces left, but you can park in a proper car park 200 m upstream from the stadium, whilst still on the route. In other words, 200 m before the end.
