Description of the walk

Start at the junction of Rue d’Oberhof and Rue des Comtes de Rosen; there is a car park at the start of this street.
Alternative starting point: you can set off from the car park at the village exit on Rue d’Oberhof.

(S/E) Follow Rue d’Oberhof towards the village exit, heading west, following the Blue Rectangle with a white cross markings. After the Schweyer Mill, follow the path behind the crash barrier. Continue to the footbridge over the Zinsel du Sud on the left.

(1) Cross the footbridge and walk round the Highland Cattle Park. Continue to Laïbrück, following the Blue Rectangle with a white cross signposting.

(2) Carry on straight ahead, heading west, following the Yellow Cross markings until you reach the junction with the D122.

(3) Cross this road and continue along the path heading west, signposted with a Yellow Cross. You will arrive at a place called Oberhof.
Follow the road northwards until you reach the junction with the D133.

(4) Cross the road and continue along the Pottaschplatz forest track for 50 m. Then take the path on the right, heading east, and follow the Blue Ring markings until you reach the junction with a road (car park).

(5) Continue for about 200 m along the Thomasthal road, then, at the barrier, take the path on the left, signposted ‘Blue Ring’. Follow this path, which eventually turns sharply northwards.

(6) At the Y-junction (not shown on the map), ignore the path on the right and, for the moment, ignore the Blue Ring markings (you can follow them – they also lead to the cave – but the path is not always well maintained). Continue along the path on the left, which climbs gently until you reach a bend to the right, following the natural curve of the woodland. As you come out of the bend, take the small path on your left and follow it southwards, following the dual Blue Ring/Yellow Triangle markings, towards the Grotte des Hussards.

(7) From the cave, follow the south-east-bound path marked with Yellow Triangles to the junction with the D133.

(8) Follow this road eastwards, cross the bridge, then take the track on the left, heading north for about 70 m. Turn onto the track on the right, heading east, still following the same markings.

(9) At the junction, take the path on the left (barrier), heading north for about 300 m, then continue along the path on the right, heading east, marked with a Yellow Triangle.

(10) At the hairpin bend, take the main track on the right, heading south for about 200 m, then take the track on the left, heading east, following the same signposting. Cross a wide track and continue to the junction with the D 133.

(11) Cross the road, then the Laïbruck bridge.

(2) Turn left and head back towards Dossenheim, walking alongside the Highland Cattle Park and following the path in the opposite direction to the outward journey until you reach the car park (S/E).

A lovely, fairly easy walk
We changed our route back to avoid taking the same road as on the way there.
