Parking along the D134 near the Col de la Tête du Christ.
Blue Cross and Blue Disc markings
(S/E) With your back to the road, turn right, heading north-west, onto the path that joins a road. Follow this road to the left until you reach a fork.

(1) Turn right and continue up the beautiful road. Leave the forest road and take the path opposite, which leads to the superb viewpoint from Rocher de la Guérite.

(2) Continue along the path in the Bouxwiller National Forest. This goes around the summit of Gruenkopf (414 metres) to arrive at Hunebourg Castle.
(3) Descend along the road, pass a car park and the Hunebourg Forest House, and join the forest road of the same name.

(4) Cross it, continue to the left, south-east, and cut across the Maibaechel Forest Road.
(5) Cross the Maibaechel River near a pond and walk gently uphill to the beautiful Hoelzernerbrunnen fountain.
(6) Turn left, heading northeast, and continue to a trail junction.

(7) Turn right to visit the ruins of Herrenstein Castle. Be warned, it's a steep climb.
(8) Retrace your steps to the fork.
(7) Take the path opposite, go around the summit of Drittelsberg (346 metres) on the left and arrive at a crossroads.
(9) Stay on the marked trail and join the D134.
(10) Follow this road to the left, taking care, until you reach the car park (S/E).
