The Léguer and its streams

Downstream from Lannion, the Léguer is fed by several streams: the Porz al Lan, the Kerlouzouen and the Pontol. After following the Léguer, we invite you to explore these streams, which are part of the charm of this region. All that remains is to let your imagination take you back in time to when the various mills along the banks were still in operation, washing flax and hemp and, in some cases, grinding wheat.

Description of the walk

Parking des Rives, between the Léguer and Rue du Moulin du Duc.

(S/E) Take Rue du Moulin du Duc eastwards and go around the car park by taking the path on the right. Follow it to the right along the river.
After the campsite, take the footbridge on the left over the river.

(1) Turn right and follow the road. After the water sports centre buildings, follow Rue Saint-Christophe to the entrance to the town.
At the end of this street, turn left and then, after 30 metres, left again to follow Rue du Faubourg de Buzulzo uphill.

(2) Turn right onto Rue du Champ du Curé, then after 50 metres, follow the path on the left, heading south.
At the end, turn right to reach the D11 departmental road. Cross and turn left along Rue Joseph Lesbleiz, which curves sharply to the left.
At the end of the bend, turn right onto Chemin du Moulin de Keranrouz.

(3) Cross the level crossing, turn left just after the level crossing, following the railway line, continue for about 200 metres and turn right at the intersection to follow the river, crossing the bridge. Continue along the riverbank. Continue along this fairly steep path, veering to the left until you reach the end.

(4) Turn right, then left onto the road. Cross the street and continue straight ahead on Route de Kerhervrec.
In the right-hand bend, continue straight ahead on the road that continues.
At Kergoz, cross Route de Quinquis and continue straight ahead.

(5) Turn left onto a wide path that runs alongside the Pontol stream. Continue along the road, then turn left.
Cross the bridge over the stream and turn right onto the path 50 metres before the railway bridge.

Alternative route: by continuing straight ahead for 50m and then taking the path on the left (7), the circuit is shortened by 3km 400m, the length of the loop described below.

First follow the Kerlouzouen stream, then, after crossing it, admire the junction of the two streams before crossing the Porz al Lan stream. The path leads to a road, which you should take to the right towards Penn ar Merdy.

(6) At the fork, turn left and continue left twice to pass under the railway line.
At the houses, continue to the left, then turn right and take the path on the left. Cross the small road and go downhill to pass under the railway bridge.

(7) Just after the bridge, take the path on the right. Follow the embankment and turn right to pass under the railway line again.

(8) Follow Rue de Kerbiriou on the left. Cross the D11 and continue straight ahead into Rue des Ajoncs.
At the crossroads, turn left and then right after 20 metres. The road curves to the left and passes under high-voltage power lines. At the crossroads, continue to the right.

(9) Turn right onto Rue de Kerwiziou Vihan, which descends towards the Léguer to reach the intersection passed at the start of the walk, at the footbridge.

(1) Turn right to cross the footbridge, then continue right along the Léguer to reach the car park where you started (S/E).

Practical information

The charm of this route lies in the various streams that it follows. However, some areas can be very wet or even flooded. The route even crosses the stream bed at one point. Good waterproof footwear is therefore essential.
In summer, the streams may be dry, which makes the circuit much less interesting.

Hello,
Interesting route, but it was impossible to pass between points 3 and 4. There was barbed wire and signs prohibiting entry, and even surveillance cameras (it's like Fort Knox, I swear ;-D). We followed the left bank of the river to rejoin the route at point 7. Looking at the map since then, I see that it might be possible to rejoin the route just after point 4 in the hamlet of Kerhervrec.
Be careful, some sections are likely to be very muddy in winter, or even impassable. In the Côtes du Nord, that's basically from October to May

Hello,
I was very surprised to see that the 'Le Léguer et ses ruisseaux' hike indicates that you pass through the mill buildings. I am the owner and have never been contacted to request permission. There is no right of way between the buildings. There is another path that I have created, so I would like to meet the author of this route. Could you please pass on this message to them?
Kind regards
