By car from Annecy: head for Col de la Forclaz, then towards Montmin and, 500 m before Montmin, turn left towards Le Bois. There are two parking options:
- at the end of the tarmac road (allow for an additional 200 m of elevation gain)
- by continuing along the track to the Chalet de l'Aulp (pronounced Lô)
The route shown on the map starts and ends at the Chalet de l'Aulp.
(S/E) Pass in front of the Chalet de l'Aulp and take the path that leads into the woods (GR® de Pays Tour du Lac d'Annecy). It descends and then joins the Chalet des Crottes on the hillside.

(1) Continue on theGRP® heading north-east. Reach the Col des Nantets.
(2) Bear sharply left to pass close to the Chalet des Nantets. The slope then becomes steeper as you climb to the Pas de l'Aulp (or Lancrenaz).
(3) After crossing this short, somewhat steep passage, you will come out onto the Aulp Riant mountain pasture.
(4) Leave theGR® on your right and take a path on your left that runs alongside a dry stone wall and then winds its way up between the pine trees of the sharp limestone pavement and Roche Murraz.
Be careful as you approach the summit, as the western slope consists of a steep cliff.
(5) The return journey follows the same route in reverse to (S/E).
