Montmin loop to the Chalet de l'Aulp via the Rocher Roux

Park in Montmin (74210) in the car park opposite the cemetery, but there are other parking spaces along the RD42 which runs through the village.

(S/E) Take the RD42 south for about 350 m.

(1) Turn right onto a path that descends and leads to the bridge crossing the stream de Montmin (ignore the path on the left).

(2) Turn right after this bridge and follow the signs for "n°10 - Col de la Forclaz". Start climbing and continue until you reach a place called La Côte.

(3) Follow the signs for "Chalet de l'Aulp" on the right until you reach the RD42.

(4) Immediately turn left and follow this road for about 150 metres. Cross the busy road carefully and take a path on the right called "Chemin des Ouvriers". Climb this path, which leads to the GRP® Tour du Lac d'Annecy.

(5) Turn right onto the GRP® and continue towards Pointe de la Rochette (you can take a short detour here). Continue to Rocher du Roux, passing a few metres of cable-supported path.

(6) Continue to the Col de l'Aulp.

(7) Follow the signs on the left towards Chalet de l'Aulp, which offers a beautiful view of Lake Annecy.

(8) Turn back to the Col de l'Aulp.

(7) Continue left, following the track and the paths that cut across the bends towards the Parking des Prés Ronds car park.

(9) Turn left at the chalet above this car park and follow signs for "n° 14 Les Settets". Follow this path towards Montmin.

(10) Further down, at the intersection, continue straight ahead to quickly reach Montmin and the church. Pass between the church and the wash house to take a path that leads to the car park (S/E).

(4): take care when crossing the RD42, which is used by many vehicles travelling to and from the Col de la Forclaz.
