Parking at the car park near Lac Noir, accessible via the D48.3 from the D48.2 coming from Orbey or Lac Blanc.
(S/E) From the car park, head towards the Auberge du Lac and walk along the lake on the right. You will soon come to a barrier. Take the blue-marked trail that climbs to the right. It leads towards the Belmont Observatory.
(1) After about 400 m, turn right at the hairpin bend and follow the path that winds upwards. Blue disc markings. When the path turns west, you will come to a crossroads with a yellow cross marked trail and a signpost.
(2) Turn right towards the Belmont Observatory, Rocher Hans, the Virgin Mary statue and Lac Blanc.
(3) On the way, stop at the Belmont Observatory, which is clearly marked and located on the right-hand side of the path. When you reach Rocher Hans, admire the view of Lac Blanc and the peak topped by a statue of the Virgin Mary. Turn around, ignore the path that branches off to the right towards the source of Lac Blanc, and return to the crossroads.
(2) Turn right (west) towards the source of Lac Noir. The path, marked with a blue disc, is relatively flat.
(4) Pass a stele (after about 20 minutes of walking) and continue.
(5) The source of Lac Noir is on the right; continue along the same path.
(6) At the next crossroads, ignore the path on the right and continue left for about 100 metres until you reach a crossroads with a signpost.
(7) Turn right to see the stubble fields and the vast view, then retrace your steps.
(7) Take the fairly steep path downhill opposite, towards Lac Noir. Blue disc markings. (You can avoid a short steep section by taking the white path you crossed: turn left. The path curves (see map) and then crosses the blue disc marked path. Follow this path again as it descends towards the lake). Descend to the lake

, and only realised our mistake much further down. To give our knees a rest, we took the forest path for a while before continuing the descent.
